The Tale of Bistun is an action adventure based on the Persian mythology. Playing as a man with amnesia and great axe wielding skills, you have to find who you are, what happened to you, to save your love and perhaps the whole world. Now, to be honest, i was completely ignorant about this legend, but after playing the game i have fixed this mistake (and you will find a wiki link down below). As a game "The Tale of Bistun" is...almost good. The visuals are great, the voice overs are better than i usually expect from indie games, the story is interesting, even if it's not handled in the best possible way, the simple combat system works well enough. That being said, the music is bad, and for some reason i have the feeling that at some point the devs ran out of money - and because of that there are parts of the game that look like a filler (and bear in mind that The Tale of Bistun is short game - you can finish is in about 3 hours). So..yeah. Almost good. Good enough for me to play it until the end (and maybe even play it again in order to collect all achievements), but for sure not a game ill be telling my grand kids about. If you want to kills some baddies, solve some really easy puzzles and save your loved one in the beautiful Arab world, give this game a chance. Game video: https://youtu.be/1wTfd4SI5Tc
Game plays like a poem
🗿⚔️ “In The Tale of Bistun, you rise as an amnesiac stone-carver climbing Mount Bistun’s slopes. Battle fierce monsters with fast melee combat, harness magical powers, and uncover the mysteries of both the real world and the Revelations Realm. A blend of myth, action, and epic storytelling.” 🌌🔥 ⭐ 5/5 — I recommend this game! It’s a beautiful mix of combat, magic, and myth that keeps you hooked. 💯 👉 Check it out here: https://youtu.be/vrsnviAwb1E
While I'll be honest & say this felt more like reading a story than playing a game sometimes, this was an overall good experience. It's not every day that you get to see many video games tied to Persian mythology & literature, so this was a refreshing novelty in many ways. It's easy, beginner friendly, & you don't necessarily need to have a lot of skill to play it & enjoy it. I'd heavily recommend it if you're looking for something genuinely fun to spend the day with w/out getting caught up in the (often) intensively immersive & even demanding titles that dominate on the more mainstream side of the market--I finished it in 2 sittings. My only gripe is that I bought the digital artbook along w/the game+soundtrack, but I can't seem to find a way to access it. Overall, I rate this favorably & recommend playing it thru at least once. Double recommend if you find Persian culture fascinating & fun, & like a healthy dose of it in your next casual gaming session.
An opening voiceover from none other than Shohreh Aghdashloo, a distinctive Persian mythological setting, and a short 2.5-hour length (at least, if HLTB is to be believed; I couldn't bring myself to finish) aren't enough to overcome incredibly simplistic and linear gameplay that makes your average Lego game look deep and complex. Also opens with a famous Milan Kundera quote about kitsch ("Before we are forgotten, we will be turned into kitsch. Kitsch is the stopover between being and oblivion."), which seems bizarrely out of place here unless the latter part of the game takes a drastic narrative swerve; nothing about the portions of the game I played suggest any sort of self-aware irony or deliberate pursuit of a kitsch aesthetic.
Super recomendo! Confira a gameplay do jogo no meu canal do Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLKNesxVFJQ
