About
The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror set in 1920s Arkham. Deliberate, tense, and resource-lean: pressure builds as you push deeper, relief comes in brief refuge, and fear is something you manage. Mind your inventory, take on unnerving puzzles, and double back via unlocked shortcuts for supplies and upgrades.
A Roaring ’20s port city buckling under a supernatural flood. Tide-stained avenues and battered Art Deco. Speakeasies gone dark. Districts feel lived-in and water-worn, with routes by foot and skiff, shortcuts behind collapsed seawalls, and secrets tucked in boarded parlors. You’ll navigate a hospital where science hides its face, a fish market where the merchandise bites back, and descend deep below the city to where eldritch horrors stir.
A ritual gone wrong trapped her soul in the Dreamlands, and now malevolent forces have stolen her body. To rescue the woman you love, you must walk a dangerous path through catastrophe to the source of the flood — her presence always felt, but rarely seen.
The Slither animate the dead. Deep Ones surge from dark water. Shadows bend space and test nerves. Some fights must be met head-on; others demand a retreat to rearm, retune your build, and return better prepared. Or take on an optional investigation and come back with an upgraded gun.
Exploration is the key to survival. Read ritual residues, sift through grisly clues, decode journals that shouldn’t exist, and pry at masks that won’t come off. Optional cases never gate progress — but they unlock safer routes, hard supplies, and upgrades that change how you endure the next encounter.
The Sinking City 2 draws on Frogwares’ detective roots to deliver survival horror that runs deep and hits hard. Shaped by studio obsession and community feedback, it’s a faithful Lovecraft experience: myths made manifest, and the inconceivable fear that results.

(Français, lire plus bas) EN 🔷In The Sinking City 2, you play as Calvin, an explorer and artifact hunter trying to wake his partner, Faye, from a sort of cursed slumber. The waters have risen in the city of Arkham, and terrifying creatures lurk everywhere. The dead are rising, and survival has become a perilous undertaking. 🟩PROS🟩 + Superb graphics and polished environments. I appreciate the details and little Easter eggs. + Excellent atmosphere; it’s genuinely creepy when there aren't any monsters around, and the sound design is perfect. + The puzzles are straightforward: finding the right key, a code, or a valve... and solutions are found by reading the clues you've gathered. + Good voice acting. + Multiple difficulty modes, including NG+. + In Easy mode, there's an option to become invulnerable and immortal, allowing you to enjoy the game and its atmosphere without worrying about your health or enemies. :D + Auto-save and manual save (using the gramophone in safe zones). 🟨COULD BE BETTER🟨 +/- I’m disappointed that the enemies we mostly face are zombies (corpses possessed by "slithers")... honestly, it’s been done to death. Sure, there are a few Lovecraftian monsters, but seriously, zombies? Urgh! +/- A lot of back-and-forth to find keys and codes, manage inventory, etc. +/- The system of linking clues to earn upgrade points is meh. 🔴CONS🔴 - Monsters everywhere. New area? Monsters. Open a chest? Monsters. Corpses? Monsters. EVERYWHERE! - Ammo, crafting and inventory management... Ugh. 🐙LOVECRAFTIAN COSMIC HORROR🐙 Lovecraftian cosmic horror isn't just about the monsters themselves; it lies in the feeling of something vast and incomprehensible touching us, mentally devouring us, and warping our reality, our beliefs, and our knowledge... plunging us into madness, fear, and despair. It shatters physical reality and breaks the mind. It is the shock of encountering these entities that triggers cosmic horror, the feeling that we are nothing, that our bodies are dissolving and twisting, that our brains are bleeding, and that we can no longer distinguish between what is real and what isn't. Yet, The Sinking City 2 doesn't quite deliver that. Calvin, the protagonist, is an adventurer who has already performed rituals and encountered monsters. Sure, he might occasionally exclaim, "Whoa! What was that thing?!" but he carries on as if everything were normal. A guy with worms for eyes asks him to hunt down a Siren that's killing people? Sure, just another Monday, as if having hideous monsters everywhere were commonplace. Ok, bro. This sense of normalcy strips away the very essence of cosmic horror here. CONCLUSION ⭐⭐⭐It’s essentially Resident Evil / Silent Hill with a Lovecraftian skin; the non-stop combat dilutes the cosmic horror elements and prevents me from fully soaking up the story's eerie, oppressive atmosphere. Even for a survival horror game, the pacing feels off. The narrative isn't particularly impressive: you get written accounts of terrible events (cults, brains, etc.), but you mostly just read notes in passing and solve a few puzzles, and that’s about it. The story and gameplay revolves around monsters and combat, which is a drag because it breaks the immersion IMO, so I never felt truly invested. The plot is linear (not a bad thing, just a fact), and progression involves unlocking doors, finding items, and so on, leading to a lot of backtracking while either blasting monsters or dodging them due to a lack of ammo. Ultimately, I’d say the game is 'good', but it’s not for my taste, and it has some flaws in what it offers in terms of cosmic horror. ⏱️Takes about 15 hours to complete. CONCLUSION ⭐⭐⭐Mon impression générale est moyenne.

The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. The first game had soul, this is just another Resident Evil copy, while not that bad, it ain't it chief. Also, "Cal, the devices!", "Cal, look, a lever!", god, the modern games are so insulting.
I played the demo and enjoyed it, but one aspect I didn't like was how repetitive the shooting felt (the demo is like 2 hours long, or even less). The full game is basically the same, but stretched into many more hours. I would call myself an RE fan, played most of the games multiple times and will replay them many more times in the future. This game - it's just an RE clone, there are so many identical mechanics and not enough unique ones to call it otherwise. Even though I hated the first game, at least it was kind of unique (yes, it had many similarities to the newer Sherlock Holmes games, but still). But it's no longer a detective game, it's basically a third person shooter. The main problem is that an RE game knows it's gameplay, properly manages encounters, knows where to slow down and where to ramp up the action, etc. This game instead just constantly throws enemies at you like there's no tomorrow - it's like if the devs wanted to shove RE4's action inside RE2 and expected the same "survival horror" experience. I genuinely wanted to enjoy it, that's why I bought it immediately after it launched. But I'm just not sure who would I recommend it to and why - it's completely different from the first game, it's a questionable RE clone (you might as well just replay an older game or wait for a new one). I guess if you never played the first game or an RE game, this game can be enjoyable. EDIT: I decided to watch a review of this game to see what I missed out on and I'm glad I dropped it. It's just more of the same, but cranked up to 11. The story somehow becomes even worse, leans into some more weird messaging and ends extremely unsatisfyingly. I wish I could get my money back.
More likely resident evil than sinking city. Unlike the previous one. In general the gameplay Isn’t bad. If you’re exciting to play keep in mind its “Completely different from the sinking city 1”
Disclaimer: I have not played the Sinking City 1 The game plays well, good story telling, convincing characters, puzzles that are not too hard but not obvious (on the easier side though). The problem starts with the enemy encounters, that are forced in the later parts of the game. Might Contain minor spoilers like location names. I had no problem with zombies and other enemies throughout the first few locations, some you can kill, some you can run from, all as intended in horror survival game. Problem starts at the end of Hospital section of the game, magical worm barrier blocking your path, the MC stuck running around a small arena shooting 3-6 enemies at a time, trying to survive until the refilling ammo box respawns so he can shoot 10 more times before resuming the running around for the next 30-60 seconds waiting for more ammo. This kind of encounter design is horrible, not suited for the kind of game Sinking City is advertised to be. Is it slow scarry horror puzzle game with some combat elements or zombie mowing simulator? Enemies are important, but turning this game into a wave shooter from time to time baffles me. It gives nothing to the experience, and takes a whole bunch away. Fish market section is even worse, running around a table to kill several harder enemies and 10 zombies at a time, taking over 10 minutes of mindless dodge spamming and shooting respawning zombies to pull a lever or two. I feel like combat and encounter design in this game sinks it (pun intended) to a unfun slog held up by quite nice world building and story. Cant recommend this game, very disappointed.
Do not buy this game.
I rarely make reviews, but I really feel like I need to do something to stop others from making my mistake with buying this slog, waste of time. And understand that this is coming from someone who played the game on Hard to completion. This "game" can be summed up as basically just "Collect three keys to move forward". That's it! Everything else is just straight up padding! Forced shooting galleries in small areas with infinite respawning ammo, boring three levels that do everything in their power to make you backtrack through constant padded impeedments and absolutely zero interesting reasons to do any of it. The characters all do that stupid thing in so many games where they open their mouths wide with every sentence and speak in this unatural, gasping tone. And have absolutely no reaction to nearly any of the crazy ♥♥♥♥ they see, fight or experience. The protaganist, Calvin, is not a character. He is a prop. A poorly acted, weak willed simp of a man that is not allowed any backbone or semblance of identity. The game goes out of its way to humiliate and ♥♥♥♥ on the guy to prop of up his. I kid you not, it just feels so emasculating for the guy in multiple scenes and he just takes it. He straight up out of the blue starts degrading himself at the end of the game and afford any good qualites he might have to being due to his wife. It was like one last humiliation ritual or something. And his wife? Jesus christ, she is the most uninteresting and obnoxious character I have experienced in a long time. Not once did I feel any sense of love or appeal to her. But from the way the game constantly kisses her ass and constantly reminds you have great, important and smart she is. She doesn't even do anything throughout the entire game. The gameplay itself isn't much to speak on either. There is a total of FOUR actual enemies you fight. Two of which are basically mini bosses; so in reality, its just two enemy types you are dealing with all game. And any kind of progression of upgrades can basically be ignored as they don't really affect anything much beyond things like "Take a little less damage after dodging". Please do not make my mistake in buying this game. It is a waste of time.
