The Silver Case

The Silver Case - это не столько детектив в классическом понимании, сколько мрачная притча о природе зла, силе репутации и охоте за призраками прошлого, замаскированная под нуарный триллер. Это намеренно сложный, фрагментарный и порой даже враждебный по отношению к игроку текст, требующий активного сотворчества. Плацебо будет душнить+)

The Silver Case is by no means a standard video game, but nevertheless I'd still highly recommend it. If you do plan on playing it, swap between doing the "Transmitter" main story missions and the intermission-style "Placebo" ones, as doing all of one and then all of the other somewhat hampered my experience. The gameplay here is extremely simple and linear, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It uniquely plays to its strengths as a visual novel and generally has greatly creative screen composition in all aspects. The soundtrack can be somewhat hit-or-miss; I rather enjoy it, but I can certainly see it being offputting for most people, and I don't see myself listening to it much on my own time. The general blend of artistic styles, themes, and general mystery intrigue ought to keep you engaged for basically the whole thing. Some people may consider this the "yucky vegetables" you need to eat to enjoy things like Flower, Sun, and Rain or 25th Ward, but I think that this game stands on its own two legs rather nicely. If you play through this and find you want more of it, there'll be quite a bit more in this game's series if you go digging for it.

逼格很高，但游玩体验极差。 即便考虑到是1999年的游戏而抛开繁琐的操作方式不谈，整个流程里面也充满了大量拖沓、枯燥、无意义的桥段。玩序章和第一章的时候对这游戏还充满好感，但基本到了第2章就开始有坐牢的感觉了，而这种感觉在第4、5章达到了顶点，最终真是咬着牙才玩通关。 本来今年以来玩了大量的AVG，结果这款游戏直接给我干得电子阳痿了，短时间内不想再碰任何AVG。 给个差评并不意味着游戏的质量有多差，而仅仅是不推荐。对于大部分玩家来说这游戏并不适合你。除非你是须田刚一的死忠粉，或者酷爱《赛博酒保》这种调性的游戏。

Never hand out that loan, keep your money! 1999, now 27 years later and the game is still sadly so relevant, nothing has changed really it has just been updated, maybe even made worse, all the ♥♥♥♥ in society depicted here still run rampant today... The shadows of our past... When will we weed them out and allow a future in the light?

Controls took a bit of getting used to, but the story was amazing. The only part I didn't like very much was the Spectrum case (aka case #2), but overall it was a very good story with great art. If you're a fan of Suda51, then this is a must-play, especially if you're looking into exploring the broader Kill The Past universe that many of his games take place in.
