The Sexy Brutale

In The Sexy Brutale, you explore a supernatural mansion chock-full of lore with a pocketwatch that lets you rewind to the start of the day. Your goal is to prevent deaths by observing the circumstances that lead to them, then intervening before they happen. Additional clues are gained by exploring and eavesdropping on the characters. If this premise sounds intriguing, this is an easy recommend. While the mansion is sprawling with probably 100+ rooms to explore, the game is ultimately linear. You are forced to solve the puzzles in a particular order, and you unlock new parts of the mansion after each solution. But before the game ends, you can take your time exploring the mansion and picking up any collectibles you've missed. Highlights are the art style, spectacular music, world-building, and characters. The overall story and ending is just okay, nothing mind-blowing, but I always love when you slowly get hints throughout the game as to what's really going on before the ending reveals all. I will give a demerit for the controls, which are awkward and non-remappabe.

Absolute peak stuff right here! The plot, the mechanics, the visuals, the music, everything! I love this game. Super fun to play. Quite thrilling, facinating and unique. I completed it in one sitting which is very very rare for me. It's quite gripping and I left fully satisfied. Man it's so hard to write a review without spoilers.

A charming game telling a rather simple story using a time loop. It does one of my favorite things in games: it presents you a place where things happen on their own. Think Talos I in Prey, or Citadel Station in System Shock. The place feels real, and so do its inhabitants and systems. In this game, it's a mansion with bars, a theater, and a casino, with a number of guests dying under mysterious and not-so-mysterious circumstances. You get to observe all that to your heart's content, thanks to the time looping mechanic, and act when necessary to alter certain outcomes. The time mechanic allows you to rewind time to the start of the day at any point in time, as well as advanced time to 4 or 8 PM at certain locations. The writing is great, and guest dialogue is delivered successfully through perfectly timed texts; there's no voice acting here. It is very satisfying to watch guest conversations and monologues as you work your way through the mansion and piecing together what's happening, how they're dying, and how to save them. The game is easy, so don't expect hard puzzles or deep mysteries. The story builds up to a finale that explains why everything's happening, and while touching, I felt it diminshed the story a bit. It wasn't the high point I expected it to be. From a technical standpoint, it runs with almost no crashes on Proton, but performance is abysmal regardless of suggested tweaks or configurations on protondb. Frame rate is in the 20s on average, with some specific rooms going down to 10 frames per second.

Un gran juego estilo "Click and Go" de puzzles en el nos moveremos por una gran mansión para intentar evitar las muertes de los invitados del dueño. La historia que te cuenta es interesante, todo ocurre en un mismo día, todos los invitados mueren de diferentes maneras, a distintos momentos y lugares...pero volviendo atrás en el tiempo, como en "el día de la marmota" vas a estar reviviéndolo una y otra vez hasta conseguir descifrar como salvarlos. Gráficamente me parece muy bueno y con personalidad. La jugabilidad es sencilla, simplemente hacer click y usar algunos botones del teclado...pero no se necesita mas para poder disfrutar del juego. Realmente lo recomiendo si lo encuentras rebajado...te ofrece una cuantas horas de diversión.

A lovely and fairly quick little puzzler. great soundtrack, fun story. for sure worth a play.
