Did I like this game? Kinda. Do I recommend this game? No. First, the good things: The soundtrack and the visuals are beautiful. They really bring the world to life. However, the bad things: The puzzles are mind-numbingly simple. You usually have 2 or 3 things you can try, and thats it. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect every timeloop game to have a Hitman-like sandbox, but it's very barebones on the gameplay side of things. And the story? It starts intriguing, but becomes a terrible letdown in the end. Unless you like one of the most meme'd upon concepts in writing. It's not one of those games I wish I didn't have wasted my time on. But I feel like I wouldn't have missed anything either if I never played it.
Cannot recommend this game as the save system is broken. Can see my saves, but when I load them, I am back at the beginning of the game again.
I absolutely ADORED this game, and its mechanics. I found The Sexy Brutale extremely stylish, fun, and fascinating. The lore within this game is INSANE, I'm the type of person who tends to try to skip over reading anything unnecessary but with the mystery of this game, it drove me to investigate and question everything I found. Some things were necessary for progression, and some were just for flavor and deepening your understand of the place but I enjoyed all of the information they gave me. The gameplay mechanics are also relatively straight forward, and a lot of things you can figure out by trying things but I do remember some moments where I felt very lost. I played the entirety of OG Tomb Raider without using a guide, but I do think I might've consulted one for one or two moments in this game. I'd have to check my VOD, because I'm not 100% sure I did, but I know for the very least it's hard to track what collectibles you do and don't have, and that led to me taking a ton of time consulting a guide on how to figure that out because there's too many to search for them all again. That's the main reason I put the gameplay at 3 stars. You don't NEED all of them, but they unlock an alternative ending so I really wanted to see it, and it was honestly better than the actual ending we see in the mainline game. I loved the story of this game and all of the mystery it built, but the love for the story shattered with its finale. It wasn't completely unexpected but SPOILER ALERT I hate the idea of "it was all a dream" and there's VERY few times that I've seen it well executed. For that reason, I would still recommend playing this game, but I don't see anyone being satisfied by the ending and I find the whole point of a mystery is to find the answers. When the answers are dissatisfying then it can really soil the experience. I think the music alone is actually a reason to play this game, and the visuals are stunning, the gameplay is fun (albeit frustrating with some moments you have to line up and figure out perfectly) but it's not a bad experience in the slightest if you're not trying to 100% and if you don't mind a bad ending. I think it's because it being a dream really detracted from my experience and made me wonder how MUCH of it was real. That's the main reason the ending bothered me was because it took away from the fantasy of The Sexy Brutale.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I must admit, the puzzles left a little to be desired, as sometimes it was overly-simple to solve a murder, and some abilities felt underutilized, but I also recognize that puzzles are incredibly difficult to construct in a narrative like this. The time loop can make the game drag a bit, but I felt for the most part I could spend the time either looking for collectibles, reading on the lore and secrets provided in the game, or looking at bits of dialogue that I hadn't been able to see in previous loops. That being said, I LOVED the world building. With how little time we are able to spend with the characters, there's still lots you can grasp of their personality and small details that link them together. I wish there had been more cross-murder interactions, but I understand why that was avoided. The ending recontextualized the entire game in a way that made me appreciate the game more--though I can understand why it would be disappointing for others. I think of the Sexy Brutale is an acquired taste. It certainly won't please everyone, but if it fits your niche, you will truly love this little gem.
Nine years ago, I watched a gameplay of this game while I was still a child, and the whole idea blew my mind. A very simple game with a beautiful story and unique characters, sometimes feeling like a story unfolding before your eyes. I'm so glad I got to play it now as an adult; I think I'll never forget the two Tequila's songs in the game. A truly mesmerizing experience.
As much as I enjoyed the story I don't think I would ever play the game again outside of getting the final achievements I missed. The story didn't feel like it was getting anywhere until after you do the first six cases of saving people and the gameplay left me frustrated. Although the gameplay was fun in the beginning, I felt myself becoming increasingly frustrated, especially when going to fine Willow, because the game gave no guidance whatsoever on who you're supposed to find and where that person may be. No, I don't expect the game to hold your hand, and I don't think that's what it needs because after finding the person initially the path can be very forward, but the fact that you needed to use Trinity's power on herself completely went over my head when Thanos was the one you see whispering first. Yes, this may just be poor thinking on my part, but I also feel like the forced order of deaths to solve makes the gameplay feel increasingly frustrating. I was looking forward to the way the game would play out in needing to save each guest or pair, however, when I realized that the game had a specific order you absolutely needed to complete it in made me slightly disappointed. I could understand why the devs made it like this, but I also feel that it also ties into how dragged on the game feels until you get to save the final two people. It felt like there was no story outside of how the staff were being controlled by some higher power and preying on the guests. There was no tie in until those final moments. This game left me desiring more out of it, but I wouldn't say it was completely awful. It had moments where I was enjoying myself, but the times where I got frustrated soiled the overall majority of fun.
Great quirky puzzle game, with a nice message about grief and self forgiveness. It short but well worth your time.
I don't remember buying this, it was fun, I quite enjoyed it, but I don't think I would've conciously bought it, in terms of a review, idk what the takeaway should be
"Are you hiding in a cupboard again?" That was my boyfriend's experience of me playing this game. "Yes, I need to watch this murder from a different angle!" That was my experience playing this game. It is not too complicated. It is not very long. I liked the little bits of fluff better then the storyline's end. I liked the music, but I understand some people going mad with it. I liked that everything is one night in one house - even though you are not allowed everywhere in the beginning you come by some old friends hanging around later in the game. I like that it is rather more casual than stressful.
Отличная стильная логичка, определённо рекомендую
