Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this 8th game in The Settlers series. The graphics are nice and placing buildings is smooth; however, the pace of the game is far too slow. Also, you cannot speed up time like in game 6 and 7 of The Settlers. Additionally, the storyline is really terribly written; it’s enough to make you cry. You make absolutely no connection with the main characters, and the voice acting is of a low standard. Skirmish is fun, but a single game easily takes 3 or 4 hours thanks to the slow pace. I only finished the storyline and tried one skirmish game; now I’m happily playing game 6 and 7 again, which are much better. I would only recommend buying this game if you can get it for almost free. Typical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage.
A solid game that pays tribute to the original titles in the series. I understand that many long-time fans may find aspects to criticize, but for newcomers, I hope it serves as an introduction that encourages them to explore the classic Settlers games. Unlike The Settlers 7, which I struggled to get into, this entry kept me engaged throughout. I invested over 40 hours into the game and completed the campaign. While I was disappointed with the ending, I still found the overall experience enjoyable. For players who have never experienced a Settlers game before, I would recommend giving this one a try. It offers an accessible entry point into the series and provides plenty of entertainment despite its shortcomings.
Egal was manche Streamer sagen.
I paid 14,97 on sale and I still consider this to be way to expensive for this kind of "broken by design" game...
Performance is good and I like the art style, which reminds me of The Settlers III and IV but with a modern take. The game uses a grid pattern when placing buildings, which works well, and the automatic pathfinding when building roads is very convenient. When it comes to the core gameplay, building production chains, gathering resources, and creating a bustling settlement, it’s not as satisfying as the earlier games I’ve played (III, IV, VI, and VII). I was quite disappointed at first. The campaign story, characters, and cutscenes feel like a last-minute addition and are terrible. The game also seems caught between wanting to be a classic Settlers title like III or IV and a more casual RTS, but it doesn’t succeed at either. That said, the more I played, the more I came to appreciate the beautiful art style, smooth performance, and impressive graphics. There’s a surprising level of attention to detail in the buildings, animations, road pathfinding, map design, and sound. I soon found myself spending several hours in each mission, building unnecessarily large settlements, exploring every corner of the maps, and building an overwhelming army to steamroll the enemy. This isn’t the Settlers game I expected or wanted, but I’m glad I gave it a chance. Once I accepted that this does not give me the Settlers experience I’m used to, I actually started enjoying it quite a bit. There are still things I’d prefer to be different, such as removing unlimited mines and adding a deeper implementation of food and settler needs. That said, if you like city builders with RTS elements, this game can be worth picking up, at least on sale.
Great looking game with easy to master controls. Gameplay is balanced, fun and varied in the solo campaign.
A beautifully relaxing RTS experience! While the game does lack some tactical depth, I am thoroughly enjoying the single-player Campaign. The graphics are stunning, the world feels alive, and the pacing is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy a peaceful, slow-paced strategy game. It's a great game to unwind with after a long day. Highly recommended for casual RTS fans!
I am a long-time fan of The Settlers series, but I feel very disappointed with The Settlers: New Allies under Ubisoft. The game forces players to use boosters to progress, which ruins the original slow but satisfying resource-gathering style. Casual mode only allows sandbox building, and AI matches are limited to 1vs1. There is no option for larger battles like 1vs4. The game heavily depends on team play, but the pace is too slow for most people to commit to playing together at the same time. Overall, the design feels restrictive and frustrating compared to the classic Settlers experience. I purchased the game expecting the traditional Settlers spirit, but instead I feel forced into a model that doesn’t respect the fans.
The Settlers: New Allies is not the grand return to the classic Settlers formula, but it is still an enjoyable, polished building RTS. The economy is more streamlined than in the older games, the production chains are simpler, and combat plays a bigger role. However, the combat itself is also fairly simple and does not offer the tactical depth of a dedicated RTS like Age of Empires. But taken on its own terms, I had a good time with it. The game looks beautiful, the settlements are pleasant to watch, and the loop of expanding, producing, upgrading, and fighting has a relaxed flow that works well. It is not my favorite Settlers game, and it does not fully deliver on the promise of a true return to the roots. Still, I prefer it over Settlers 5 and 6, and maybe even over 7 depending on the mood. A good game, just not the classic-style reboot some players may expect.
