The Revenge of Johnny Bonasera: Episode 1

Habe die Episode 1 günstig im Sale gekauft. Nettes kleines Adventure, mit nicht sehr schweren, aber mitunter nicht gleich offensichtlichen Lösungen. Kurze Spieldauer mit Bonus Sidestory. 3 Teenager Punks schmeißen Sandwich von kleinem Jungen auf den Boden. Der schwört Rache und bekommt diese auch in Episode 1. Zum Vollpreis, 5 Euro, für 1/4 eines Spiel ist zu teuer. Aber im Sale kann man durchaus zuschlagen. Die anderen 3 Teile sind so jedenfalls eine Option für mich.

Funny and short (~1h) point and click game that kind of looks like some of the decent Flash games you could find on Newgrounds back in the days. On the minus side, the UI is fairly uncomfortable and it's often hard to figure out what the hell you're supposed to do without peaking at a guide.

Johnny adore la nourriture et il ne faut pas le déranger lorsqu'il mange ! Concentré sur chaque bouchée de son délicieux sandwich, tout en marchant dans la rue, il ne s'est pas rendu compte qu'il pénétrait dans le quartier des punks : une zone de non-droits revendiquée par Woody le gros costaud de la bande. Tabassé et humilié par ces gros nazes malodorants, mais pire que tout : son sandwich écrasé au sol, il décide de se venger. Il va alors orchestrer un plan machiavélique pour leur faire payer un par un jusqu'à la dernière miette de son sandwich ainsi gâché. Ce premier épisode est une courte introduction d'environ 1 heure, dans un univers cartoonesque se voulant humoristique. On y retrouve tous les éléments d'un point and clic classique, dans un environnement 2D, les énigmes sont logiques et plutôt simples. L'histoire est plaisante et nous fera sourire dans certaines scènes mais je pense que le coté "hilarant" ne se révélera que plus tard dans le jeu. Une fois terminé, on trouvera dans le menu un second petit jeu bonus d'une quinzaine de minutes. Le final nous suggère une aventure plus riche (composée de 4 épisodes au total), cependant cette première entrée en matière se parcourt bien trop rapidement pour s'en faire une idée globale et ressentir l'irrésistible envie d'acheter la suite dans la foulée. Si je n'avais pas lu les commentaires des joueurs ayant terminé le jeu au complet, j'hésiterais encore...J'attends maintenant une promo plus importante qu'un - 20% et je vous conseille d'en faire de même. Short little point and click adventure

[i]This review is part of my mini-project to review all four of the Johnny games. The Revenge of Johnny Bonasera is a 4-part episodic series by independent developer Rafael García. The series began in late 2016 and concluded in early 2020. The developer has floated the possibility of doing a fifth game at some point in the future, but the series is currently finished; The four games that are out tell a complete story with no loose ends. Each game in the series takes about two to three hours to complete, and each successive game is a bit larger and more ambitious than the previous entries. The series follows a physically weak but terribly ruthless young boy. In the first game, which works as a standalone title, Johnny takes revenge on some teenaged punks who ruin his sandwich. The second, third, and forth games change course a little bit and follow a whole story arc as Johnny takes revenge on some aliens who have abducted his mother. My overall impression of the series as a whole is positive. Johnny is not as big or as flashy as many other games; but it doesn't feel like it is even trying to compete with those. I am writing these reviews on Jan 2, 2020, the day after Adobe Flash officially died. Johnny feels like exactly the kind of game that would have existed and thrived as a mega-hit on a site like Newgrounds or Kongregate had it come out 15 years earlier. With the basic cartoonish art style, large and crudely animated sprites, vaguely adolescent humor, and simplicity of design, the series brings me a certain nostalgia for that era of gaming.[/i] This is the first entry in the series, and while I like it, I think it is the weakest of the bunch. I know that this particular entry frequently goes on deep discount and has even been given away for free, in order to draw players into the series. If you would like to buy this to test it out, keep in mind that the best bits are still yet to come. I believe this one was made as Rafael García was still finding his stride as a developer. In this entry, Johnny is up against three teenaged punks who lightly bully him. He decides to pay back the minor slight by absolutely ruining the bullies' lives. The punishment he doles out is way worse than the initial incident. While Johnny does some real ruthless stuff in all four of the games, he has absolutely no chill at all in this one. The first entry ends on a cliffhanger that sets up the remaining three games in the series. It also includes a very short but enjoyable bonus game, accessible from the main menu, which gives us some backstory for one of the game's minor characters.

Some fatass, and his crew, threw my sandwich on the floor, so I left a permanent (or rather temporary for one of them) reminder to not ♥♥♥♥ with my food. Short game, but really fun!

The Revenge of Johnny Bonasera: Episode 1 is the first in a series of simple point and click adventure games with a comedy theme and art style ripped off TV's The Family Guy. The game is short and the comedy theme is "okay" but nothing truly remarkable. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. This looks and feels more like a 1990's Flash game than a PC game of the modern 3D era. The Revenge of Johnny Bonasera: Episode 1 has an overly optimistic price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.

A lightweight game for lightweight adventurers. Enjoyable enough but very short. Buy it only on sale.

A fun point and click game that you could beat in an hour. The graphics are vivid and cartoonish. It is worth playing but I would wait for a sale. I'm looking forward to play the rest of the episodes.
