The Precinct is one of those games that immediately clicked with me because it feels like a modern interpretation of the old-school top-down GTA formula, especially GTA 2 ... but from the completely opposite side of the law. That combination works incredibly well. Driving through the city, responding to crimes, chasing suspects, setting up roadblocks and dealing with unpredictable situations gives the game a fantastic sense of freedom. It has that same sandbox feeling where you are never quite sure what is going to happen next. What I especially love is the perspective and atmosphere. The city feels like a place you actually patrol rather than just a backdrop for missions, and the top-down/isometric presentation gives me strong GTA 2 nostalgia without simply copying it. There is also something very satisfying about playing the police instead of the criminal. You still get the car chases, chaos and open-city gameplay, but the motivation behind everything is completely different. For me, The Precinct feels like someone took part of the DNA of GTA 2, mixed it with a police simulator and turned it into something modern and surprisingly unique. If you have a soft spot for classic GTA, especially GTA 2, this is absolutely worth playing.
i would recommend this game to people who loves patrolling inside the open world city.

Je n'attendais pas grand chose de The Precinct. Il n'a rien d'exceptionnel mais mérite d'être joué une fois si on aime ce style de jeu. Il ne faut surtout pas chercher le réalisme, juste un jeu fun et simple : dans ce cas, il est très bien. Il a des qualités et défauts... Je note en particulier : + graphiquement sympa et très lisible avec une bonne gestion des objets destructibles / de la physique + l'histoire est classique mais fonctionne bien pour maintenir un peu d'intérêt + il m'a fallu 18h pour arriver à la fin de l'histoire, avec possibilité de continuer (collectibles, XP...) + le système d'évolution du personnage est pas mal, sans plus mais suffisant + le chien est bien pour attraper les possesseurs de stupéfiants et c'est assez rigolo (même si rapidement lassant) + ça se joue très bien au clavier/souris, l'ensemble répond bien et même l'hélicoptère est facile à diriger + parfois c'est un gros bazar avec des véhicules accidentés dans tous les sens, si on ne cherche pas le réalisme, c'est assez comique + le collègue (Kelly) et le chien sont agréables en secondaires, même si... - ... l'IA des compagnons est vraiment décevante et rend les poursuites de 2 suspects frustrantes - l'IA des suspects n'est pas terrible non plus, ceux qui passent en boucle une barrière dans un sens et dans l'autre sont ridicules - la répétitivité convient pour 10h-15h non intensives, mais clairement, une fois l'histoire finie je n'ai pas envie de continuer le jeu. Ca manque de challenge et d'intérêt - la traque des gangs est un peu absurde, on trouve des preuves par-ci par-là, au hasard des patrouilles... avoir des preuves concrètes aurait été bienvenu pour autre chose qu'une collecte dénuée de sens - les gunfights sont tout juste acceptables - la demande de herses ou barrages ne servira pas les 2/3 du temps - quelques bugs, notamment dans la configuration du clavier (rien de grave, mais par exemple la touche ESPACE ne fonctionne pas pour la respiration synchronisée, il faut modifier la touche) Bref, petit jeu sympa, assez fun pendant quelques heures. Il ne faut pas en attendre grand chose, mais entre deux jeux de grande qualité, ça fait une pause sympathique : il n'est pas mémorable, je doute qu'il y ait un réel intérêt à le refaire, notamment parce que l'ensemble manque de contenu (tant au niveau du scénario que des types d'interventions possibles).
I really enjoy the game, despite the limitations. It has a tag that says open world, but its not open world. I mean within the framework of your patrols there is some level of freedom, but its not close to my idea of open world. That said its a fun game and I enjoy the variety of patrolling and the overarching story. Its worth buying.
