Planet Crafter is a refreshing take on the survival crafting genre. While most survival crafting games focus on building the player to suit the environment in which they find themselves, Planet Crafter flips that paradigm upside down and focuses on building the environment to suit the player. Watching the planet slowly come to life in response to your choices is incredibly fun and rewarding. The slow grind towards engineering a dead rock into a thriving, paradisic utopia is full of surprises that are best enjoyed organically without consulting wikis ahead of time. The game does an excellent job of tutorializing the player without treating them like an idiot. Exploration is fun because it's not a series of yellow-painted ledges, but rather hidden caves and wrecks tucked away in far corners of the map that you might have driven past a dozen times only to discover later. Crafting is a simple mechanic that doesn't require memorizing complex recipes, further removing the need for consulting external resources. Don't min/max this one, just enjoy it and let the game come to you as it happens. Make mistakes. It's fun.
