Solid game I enjoyed it a lot, I wish there were more bosses, but is still worth it.
Good challenge. Would recommend. :p
If you're a fan of Souls-like games, that's your game for sure. I can define it like a "souls-like game on steroids" or a hardcore game, few times harder than other similar games, so prepare to die a lot! :)

Dodging and counterattacking is pretty satisfying, quite difficult tho, still can't get past the first guy after ng++
In general, the game was fun despite having some shortcomings. Moreover the unfair pattern in the last boss (in the pattern where he makes 3 attacks in quick succession, the attack starting animation should be unique compared to other attack animations).
戦闘が楽しい
Difficult at first but fair and overall fun.
The Pit is a highly focused action game developed and published by ABGAST that strips away many of the conventions found in modern action adventures and concentrates entirely on skill-driven combat. Rather than presenting players with a large world to explore, complex inventory systems, or lengthy story sequences, the game builds its identity around intense one-on-one encounters and the pursuit of mastery. It is a title designed for players who enjoy learning enemy patterns, refining their reflexes, and overcoming difficult challenges through persistence rather than character progression. The game's premise is intentionally minimalistic. Players enter a dangerous arena known simply as the Pit, where survival depends on defeating a succession of increasingly formidable opponents. The lack of an elaborate narrative allows the gameplay to take center stage from the very beginning. Every encounter feels purposeful because the game never distracts players with unnecessary side activities. Instead, the experience revolves around a simple question: can you survive and emerge victorious against enemies that demand near-perfect execution? Combat is unquestionably the core attraction. The Pit revolves around a dodge-focused system that rewards precision above everything else. Timing is critical, and players are encouraged to avoid incoming attacks at the last possible moment. Unlike many action games where dodging merely serves as a defensive option, here it becomes the primary mechanic around which the entire combat system is built. Successfully avoiding attacks not only keeps the player alive but also contributes to powerful combo chains that increase offensive potential and encourage aggressive play. What makes the combat especially satisfying is the fluidity of movement. Different enemy attacks trigger unique evasive animations, giving battles a dynamic and cinematic quality. As players become more skilled, encounters begin to resemble carefully choreographed duels rather than chaotic fights. Dodging through a devastating attack and immediately launching a counterattack creates a rewarding sense of momentum that keeps the action engaging throughout the game. The boss battles are where The Pit truly shines. Each enemy serves as a demanding test of observation, patience, and reaction speed. Rather than overwhelming players with large numbers of opponents, the game focuses on memorable duels against powerful adversaries with distinct attack patterns and behaviors. Every boss feels like a puzzle that must be solved through repeated practice and understanding. Learning attack timings, identifying openings, and executing precise responses become essential to success. This design philosophy creates a powerful sense of accomplishment. Victory is never handed to the player through grinding or overpowered equipment. Success comes from genuine improvement. Every defeat teaches a lesson, and every subsequent attempt feels slightly more manageable as players gain a deeper understanding of enemy behavior. The game embraces the idea that mastery itself should be the primary reward, and it executes this concept remarkably well. Another strength lies in the combo system. The more effectively players dodge and maintain offensive pressure, the greater their damage potential becomes. This encourages a highly aggressive style of play where caution and confidence must coexist. Retreating too often can break momentum, while reckless attacks can lead to immediate punishment. Finding the perfect balance between offense and defense creates a satisfying rhythm that keeps battles engaging from start to finish. The visual presentation also deserves recognition. Built using Unreal Engine, the game features detailed character models, impressive effects, and a dramatic atmosphere that enhances the intensity of combat. Battles are visually striking without becoming cluttered, ensuring that players can clearly read enemy attacks and react appropriately. The cinematic camera work contributes to the feeling of participating in epic duels while maintaining the visibility necessary for precise gameplay. Sound design further elevates the experience. Impactful effects make every successful strike feel powerful, while the soundtrack amplifies the tension of boss encounters. Music builds anticipation during difficult fights and reinforces the satisfaction of victory once an opponent finally falls. Together, the audio and visual elements create an immersive environment that supports the game's focus on high-intensity combat. The inclusion of New Game+ adds meaningful replay value. Returning players are not simply asked to repeat the same content with inflated enemy statistics. Instead, additional attack patterns and new challenges alter encounters in ways that require continued adaptation. This approach encourages long-term mastery and provides experienced players with fresh reasons to revisit battles they thought they had already conquered. The game's primary weakness is its narrow focus. Players seeking expansive worlds, narrative depth, extensive customization, or varied gameplay systems may find the experience limited. The Pit is unapologetically centered on combat mastery, and nearly every aspect of the game exists to support that objective. However, for the audience it targets, this concentrated design is also one of its greatest strengths. By refusing to dilute its core concept, the game delivers a consistently engaging challenge from beginning to end. The Pit succeeds because it understands exactly what it wants to accomplish. It transforms a simple premise into a compelling test of reflexes and determination through carefully designed combat encounters and rewarding mechanics. While its scope may be smaller than many contemporary action titles, the quality of its core gameplay allows it to stand out as a memorable experience. For fans of difficult boss fights, precision-based action systems, and games that reward genuine skill development, The Pit offers an intense and satisfying journey that remains engaging long after the first victory. Rating: 7/10
i decided to give this game a try and for some reason, it felt better this time around in ng+. i doubt any updates or anything were done but the game felt very stiff when i was i ng+ and i nearly finished but refunded and didn't look back. saw it again and picked it back up and it felt much better. maybe because i played other lower budget games in the meantime or something im not sure but i liked it and was able to finish it happily. this isn't a game i would replay despite the aspect that's there (simply because there are other games that have this type of adaptive difficulty that are more rewarding). i wouldn't have recommended this game before but if you get it on sale especially when it drops really really cheap, i recommend checking it out if you're interested in challenging combat or maybe scratching a sifu itch.
