The Perfect Pencil

I found this game really good! The graphics are beautifully done. Even though it’s a 2D game and I normally prefer 3D ones, I was honestly impressed. It’s incredibly well made, and the story gives you many choices that can change how everything unfolds. Highly recommended!

This game is so close to being extremely good. Artistically and narratively, the world building, the character development, it's all top shelf. Before you read further, I need to say: I absolutely recommend this game on its artistic merit alone. The time that I was able to put in, I enjoyed thoroughly. Unfortunately, it suffers from design issues that *just* miss the mark enough to make the experience (for me) not worth putting in more time: * Controls are a little loose. Attacks don't come out *quite* immediately, wall jumping sometimes will fail inexplicably. The platforming is weirdly tight horizontally, but vertically it's just off * I'm 7 hours in and still haven't found fast travel. I know it's there, but I haven't seen it. Fast travel really shouldn't be buried like that. * No in-game rebinds. You can use the Steam method for controller, and whatever keyboard software you have, but there's nothing in-game. It's supposedly coming? That last one is really important for me. I'm not a controller player, I'm KBM, and the way the controls are mapped in-game doesn't really let me use third-party options to conveniently remap everything. I'd need to spend probably an hour or two getting everything right and setting profiles. I cannot stress this enough for game designers everywhere: you should not release a game without key remapping available. It's 2026. Super Metroid, a game over 30 years old, had remapping. Because playing on a controller hurts my hands after about 90 minutes, and with my history of RSI, I can't continue. I really, really want to, because I can overlook the fast travel thing and loose controls thing pretty easily for a game I enjoy playing. But I'm not about to sacrifice my hands. Please please please, if you're reading this and enjoy metroidvanias and can overlook the slightly jank controls and buried fast travel, pick this up. The devs are absolutely worth supporting so they can polish this game further, and continue making more games.

A game that definitely deserves more attention! excellent level design, truly inspired visuals, and a engaging narrative that kept me hooked to the screen all the way to the end credits.

Fan dei metroidvania? Con The Perfect Pencil avrete pane per i vostri denti. Vi piacciono i giochi che non si limitano a tirarvi contro nemici e boss ultrafighi? The Perfect Pencil è pane per i vostri denti. TPP è un Hollow Knight che ha incontrato cose come Earthbound e Omori: dietro la sua corazza di matite e mazzate c'è una poco velata voglia di trattare tematiche toste, come l'ansia e la depressione, e avere a disposizione un bel po' di aree e di tempo per approfondirle non gli fa che bene. Dovreste dargli assolutamente una chance.

Ci sto giocando da un paio di ore e devo dire che mi sta divertendo molto! Trovo molto interessante la direzione artistica che è stata presa: ogni scelta sembra studiata per dare personalità al mondo di gioco, e le animazioni sono veramente ben fatte! Apprezzo anche la quantità di oggetti distruttibili presenti negli ambienti, che rende l’esplorazione più dinamica e mi spinge continuamente ad agitare la matita per vedere cosa succede. Il menu dell’inventario è una chicca, perfettamente in linea con l’estetica generale. Devo dare anche una nota positiva al sound design, ben curato e che non stanca mai l'orecchio, diventando invece un piacevole compagno di viaggio! In definitiva, un titolo che merita assolutamente di essere giocato! ✏️

대체로 스토리도 재밌고 할게 많아서 런타임도 길어서 좋았습니다. 다만 조작키 설정을 변경할 수 있게 만들어주셔야 PC도 호환이 좋아서 그 부분이 아쉬웠습니다.
