Tried to love this game and was excited when it got released, but it's simply too unpolished to recommend. Currently I'm at level 47 with class 2 ship. The controls are hard to get used to at first (it would be nice to have an option with keyboard controls like in the legendary game subspace/continuum) As others have mentioned, the game is lifeless, simply go from system to system and kill every enemy. At some point the missions, scanning and mining all become pointless. Rare/Epic/Legendary items have no intrinsic value. The only thing that matters is the item level, everything can be easily crafted, purchased or found. Every 10 levels simply find the same items, upgrade them and make them legendary... and repeat. Either weapons/items are not balanced enough, too powerful or some are just useless (lasers for example). Pick any ship, slap on energy orb weapon, enough ship acceleration, max speed, weapon range, put high armor on all legendary items and the game becomes incredibly easy even on solo. Just lob orbs and a few heavy rockets at everything while occasionally avoiding enemy rockets, their primary weapons can barely damage you anyways. With this combo, regular ships are 1 shot kills with primary weapon, stations and pirate captains are also really easy from range simply because they are such big targets. Combat systems are also all useless (except for turret which can be used as a decoy and draw enemy fire)
What can I say? This game is a very poor 1:1 copy of Star Valor, a game I've spent hundreds of hours playing and have all the achievements done. It uses the same assets (no offense, it just makes the copy even more obvious), the same gameplay mechanics like scanning, exploration, bases, icons, etc. Since I like sci-fi, RPGs, and exploration, I gave the game a chance anyway, but I was only disappointed. It's simply yawningly boring. The first few levels are okay because there are lots of new things to discover. But there's neither a story nor a central theme, nor any endgame activities. There is no real crafting, only "upgrading" stuff. It's always the same. Enter a sector, wipe out all enemy bases, mine everything, kill all the guardians - next sector. I'm almost level 30 and thought there was more to come. Nope. Yawning emptiness in space. If you like a game like this, play STAR VALOR – it's a thousand times better, has what feels like 1000% more content, depth, and now even better graphics. Stay away from this cheap copy!
all I can say at the time of the review update is that the project is simply an unjustified scam.
I'm not going to say the game is bad but there are multiple games that are cheaper and better and scratch a similar itch. Nienix, Star Valour, and Drox Operative 2 are all direct competitors that do it better and cheaper. If your preferred genre is just space shooters, you could also put ring runner in the mix which has substantial and more meaningful customization, better optimization, a real story, and tons of game modes. This game just doesn't have enough meat on its bones to be compelling. For someone that doesn't know what this game is about, its a space diablo type game with components that you can get and skill levels you can get to upgrade your ship in a world that is somewhat simulated. The simulation is barebones and un-interesting and the gameplay is mediocre. Early access this game would get a positive rating but unless they have that commitment to making it fully featured when compared to these other games, its just not going to get a recommendation.
While it gets monotonous after a few hours, had a hard time getting myself to stop playing. :Some ideas for devs: -- allow up to 3 ai fleet ships to follow and attack with you, could fully equip them each, since the game has co-op up to 4, thought this would be fair to solo players. --armors that protect against certain types of weapon --homing module that effect primary or secondary weapons --rare modules you can only get from the black market, or defeating bosses. --hangar drones that use your ability's modules, basically when launched would send 4-5 drones that deal moderate damage and give them a high cool down --ship parts/research from bosses can combine into a ship that you would need to purchase but it has huge ship stats, also would having the maximum number of modules. --when crafting show the different kinds of upgrades an item can get
I'm having a blast! Sure, game is not perfect, but is strangely addictive. Maybe it's just scratching that itch for me - I like it.
Even though it doesn't seem to be getting support or updates, what is here is a very playable little game.
Nice space sandbox - it's quite large and fun to play. Few UI quirks to be worked out, but those are already mentioned to be worked on in the news.
