About
The untamed wilderness of Alaska is beautiful, cold, and unforgiving. As a high-profile fugitive on the run, this desolate landscape is your only hiding spot, with your dog as your sole companion. But in these woods, the peaceful silence is a lie. The environment is not just your hideaway—it is the hunting ground for something that belongs here more than you do.
"The Pale Mimic" is not an infinite survival game; it is a linear, narrative-driven horror experience with a definitive beginning and end.
Your cabin is your only refuge, but safety is an illusion. On most days the core of your existence is hunting large game just to survive a little longer, with only brief respite at the cabin to plan your next move. On other days, the forest will have unexpected surprises for you.
When outside, the hunt begins.
When food runs low, you must venture into the frozen forests, where your dog is your guide and key to tracking anything. What starts as a simple hunt for game quickly turns into a struggle for survival. You will track, kill, and butcher large game, but this process is far from easy. As you stalk your prey, something is watching. Keep your wits about you, lest the hunter become the hunted.
You must bring the meat back to survive, but the creature is waiting for you to turn your back on the woods. It is fast, strong, and relies on a terrifying form of mimicry to lure you out. As a stalker, it prefers to avoid direct confrontation. It might mimic your dog’s whine to make you open the door, the sound of prey to trick you, or a familiar voice to lure you into a trap. Out here in the middle of nowhere, imitation is the highest form of horror.

Not bad, but not great. I leave honest reviews. Pros: Short and sweet A few jump scares An OK story A Few interactive things like throwing the ball and listening to the radio I did want to know how it ended Good mood and environment albeit a rather small map Cons: Very repetitive Most of the game consists of just finding a deer, elk, or moose to shoot for food Not too much of a story No voice dialogue for main character (although not really a con, but since other actors in the game had voice, the main character would have been nice to have voice) The ending was lacking quite a bit I thought. It could have had more of an ending. Even with the cons, which in my opinion are glaring, I still wanted to finish the game to see how it ended. And I did get a few good jump scares in. The first of was the best because it was totally unexpected. I don't want to rate it as "Not Recommended" because overall it was not a terrible short game. And I'm not going to be a douche canoe and rate it as such when there was not glaring performance issues, game breaking issues, or anything of that nature. The dev can write a little bit of a better story, make a better bigger world, add some actual tasks, and release a Pale Mimic 2, and I think it could be really good. Overall, the 8 bucks it set me back gave me a couple evenings of enjoyment and a break from my own game dev and a good mental reset, so I'll recommend it for people looking for something short, "relaxed", and just something different to play for a few hours. It's obviously not a AAA game (thank God), and doesn't try to be. It is what it is, and should be played and enjoyed as such. I'm not mad at it.

This game clutched up a thumbs up from me at the jaws of the thumbs down. I was getting pretty disappointed at how the game declined after a few weeks in. However. That ending sequence was genuine cinema. I was laughing and hollering at how bizarre it was to 1v1 a skinwalker. I think this is a great game and the dev did good work. Probably gonna cook some insane games in the future if the dev keeps improving. I really liked the ending
A very interesting story driven Horror game. Is it super scary ? No. But its very unique in its approach. Id say if ur looking for a fun 2-3hour long atmospheric Horrorgame then deffinitly pick this one up.
При первом прохождении действительно страшно выходить из хижины каждый раз. Атмосфера на высоте, Рокки действительно молодец) Надеюсь разработчик будет продолжать работу. Рекомендую.
Not bad.
The game is short but perfect (I had a heart attack during the credits, I swore she had died).
I loved this game, highly recommend. Story is beautifully haunting and there is a lot of tension and suspense due to always being on guard. I just wish the main character had voice lines too since everyone else seems to have them. Other than that, I recommend everyone to try this game if you love story-driven stuff. Most importantly: YOU CAN PET THE DOG!
