The Outpost Nine: Episode 1

In it's current state, this game has an hour of content. The writing isn't great, and contains spelling errors (it partially does this to imply accents, but some errors seem to be nothing more than sloppy proofreading) and generally isn't presenting a story which is profoundly new or interesting. The gameplay itself is bogged down by an unintuitive interface, and the 'puzzles' within aren't particularly engaging. The art is also bizarrely inconsistent, with some characters being detailed, shaded, and so on, with others lacking shading and looking far more bland. With all that said, at time of writing, only the first episode is ready. It is possible, come more episodes, that the game will become more polished and engaging, but I would not purchase this game until you have reason to believe that the 'rest of the game' is worth playing.

I played for 20 minutes, nothing happened in that time.

It's actually a pretty nice adventure, sadly it's over in just one hour.

I think this game has been fun to play and the story is really engrossing once you get into it. It has a late 70's / early 80's vibe to it and if you are 30+ years old I am sure you will "get it." I really enjoy games like these and I look forward to chapter 3 as well as other games in this genre.

Wish there was a bit more to do, but the story was interesting and I enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to Episode 2.

Fantastic text game with obvious influence from "Alien" and older sci-fi films. 8/10

Eh, there are the beginnings of a halfway decent game here, but it is very short, unfinished, and the story is just not that good -- it borrows heavily from the first Alien movie without adding anything unique or interesting that would make it its own thing. If the developer were to finish the story with an original twist, and maybe add some achievements, it might be worth a dollar.

I loved this. Why aren't there more?!

Other people have said that this game is an hour long, and i could not finish it. It is centred around this concept of sequence puzzles where you have to go to place A, pick up object B, then go to place C, use object B, etc. If the controls were a little more intuitive, ie, if i could use my mouse or my keypad to move around instead of a text interface, i don't think i would have as much of a problem with it. If you have 50p to spare, then grab this game. Who knows, maybe you'll like it. And if you don't, it won't be a big loss.

Nice little mix of a text adventure/ADV game. It's a fairly beat-for-beat remake of the original Alien movie, albeit with a few changes. Updates are fairly slow (Episode 2 came almost five years after the original release!), and it's pretty short right now, but at least the project's not dead?
