The Oni Sellsword

So I beat this just now, and it is very short which is fine for a free game. However I cannot recommend this game as the ending is horrible, and throws something at you that is out of place and ridiculous. I don't want to spoil the story, and so I will leave it at that. I do not appreciate such things in a video game however, as I hear enough of it on the news. Which is sad as I did enjoy the dialogue up until the last scene with the princess. On another note the maps could use some work, and they just looked like the developer threw random props everywhere.

A short and entertaining game which delivers good story, characters and atmosphere despite its brevity. I liked the simplicity of only having a few equipment upgrades and choices of accessory - in many RPGs you are overwhelmed with items and can't use everything. Combat is fairly easy, and enemies become a little repetitive, but there is quite a decent range of attack options given the game's tiny size, so you can try a different tactic or two if it gets dull. This is a great one if you're in the mood for a bit of RPG time without the commitment of an epic 50-hour slog. Best of all, it's free. A quick note for parents: the game contains language that isn't suitable for younger audiences. Everybody else, go for it.

I've never played a turn based RPG before in my life. It was just as gay as I assumed. Would recommend. Short sweet, free; a well written romp for the genre. shattered expectations. Well done Eric.

Immediately got obvious aggressive lesbian & yuri game vibes upon the start of the game. Seemed like an alright game, other reviews say it's short so that's a plus, means its beatable.

Cute game, simple RPG. If you do all of the battles it'll take about 2-2.5 hours to beat, it's a fun little romp.

The game does not last for long but it does deliver in a short amout of time. The story is very good and I still feel sorry for Xavienne because of her back story (poor girl) and how she is treated by the humans. Each character has a distinct personality and brings life to the table (although Hernandon feels rather like a horny bard than a mage). The combat feels great and reminds me of a classical Pokemon 3v3 turn based battle. Every character also has their own unique skills which makes up for some stragety. The game features adult jokes and humor. As a side note, the ending involves cute yuri. Verdict: Short but peak

RPG Maker strikes again! The Oni Sellsword is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This is a particularly bad RPG Maker asset flip, and to the surprise of nobody, features heavily the developers imaginary girlfriend/waifu as we plod through a godawfully bad kitbash with, you guessed it, high school anime club dropout fan-fiction cringefest writing. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 15 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
