About
Seed of Pandora is a solo-indie developed RPG in the classic 16 bit pixel art style. Embark on an epic adventure across the continent of Pandora as you meet helpful companions along the way that will become lifelong friends. Discover the many secrets of this fully realized 16 bit world. Beautiful anime cutscenes bring the story to life with gorgeous hand drawn art. With a fast paced turn-based battle system Seed of Pandora feels like a game made in the golden era of RPG's, but with many modern day quality of life improvements and an emphasis on fun gameplay.
In the Kingdom of Garda, on the southernmost continent of Pandora, there lives the great Gaia Tree, the tree of life. The seeds of the Gaia Tree are said to have given rise to all life in the world.
The Gaia Sect, a group of monks originally tasked with protecting the Gaia Tree, banished to the endless Southern Seas by the first King of Garda. They stood accused of abusing the power they derived from the Gaia Tree's magical seeds.
Over a century has passed since the war against the Gaia Sect. The citizens of Garda enjoy a simple life of relative peace.

Sorry folks, this one is a stinker. It starts out fine. But soon you'll find out that you can't upgrade your armor and your weapon can be upgraded from 10 to 11. Meanwhile your enemies go from 100hp to 400hp. It's still quite playable, but now you have to throw out any strategies you've developed so far, because the rules have changed. I mean, I fought my way through several tough foes to get to a chest with one 50hp potion inside. I actually laughed out loud when I saw that. It gets worse from there. I have tens of thousands of skill points with no skills to spend them on. One of the characters has over 100 magic points, but can't use magic. And on and on. Buy it if you like, just know it's nothing like the demo. That was the first trap.
Played and finished the full game, Unfortunately it is overall a let down, unpolished and rushed. Positives

Animated Cutscenes (Mega Man X4 like) with decent voice acting.
Negatives

The Story, starting from mid-game, is rushed. Everything goes from conflict to conclusion in a few minutes. This will be more apparent in the late game.
There is a learning skill system implemented, yet you can only learn like 2-4 skills per character (magic & tech). This is odd as skills are one of easiest thing to implement in a RPG Maker game.
There is a weapon shop but you can only buy one weapon that increases your ATK by 1 only for 3 our of 4 playable characters.
You can not upgrade your armor to improve your defense as there is no armor shop or anything that drops them.
Dungeon design will be mostly the same as the first one minus some puzzles in some so don't expect much.
Combat is repetitive - there is no strategy involve other than defense break then attack. Same enemy formations in dungeon and overworld encounters and most enemies spam only one attack. This also includes most boss fights.
Unrewarding loot - you will fight an army of enemies for 5 minutes just to get a potion from a chest at the end of the area.
Input delay in QTE Events - sometimes unresponsive or requires you to mash the button. Thankfully there are only a couple of them and are not mandatory.
Performance issues - I am running a Ryzen 5600G machine yet the game will start to lag after one hour then become unstable after two hours. I have to relaunch the game to get it fixed.
Just finished the game. A lot of things started in developpement are not finished ( no other armors, even if there is a menu to change them, three weapons,... ). Totally unbalance in every level : damages, life, scaling of spells. You can play it for the story, it will be an average aventure for 10h. I can't recommand this game.
Chained Echos at Home: I was hoping things would get better after the demo, but they honestly didn't. 1. Nearly 6 hours in, there are barely any equipment upgrades, none if you count the +1 weapons from the ONLY shop on the continent. 2. Quests offer you little to no clues, forcing you to talk to every single npc on the map for many quests, if they offer any advice at all. I had to comb areas blindly tapping the action button hoping to find something noteworthy to interact with. 3. Enemies scale up, while your characters barely advance at all beyond HP. Monsters are swiftly becoming HP sponges. The starting pair haven't learned any new techniques beyond what they gained at around level 7.
Unplayable on steam deck, 5 crashes in 1 hour.
I’ve been really impressed by Seed of Pandora: Legend of the Gaia Tree. As a longtime fan of classic 16‑bit RPGs, I immediately fell for its nostalgic pixel art and overworld map that feels like a nod to SNES classics. The game follows Bastian on a journey fueled by mysterious, vivid dreams—a refreshing hook that sets it apart. The combat system is engaging, with cool tech point mechanics and an auto-battle/fast forward mode that keeps the pace lively, though I did notice some minor hiccups like dialogue interruptions during combat and a somewhat grind-heavy progression system. Despite a few technical quirks on the Steam Deck, (which it sounds like the developer is working on,) it’s clear that the developer poured their heart and five years of passion into this project. Overall, Seed of Pandora is a charming indie gem that, while not perfect, delivers a memorable retro-inspired experience with plenty of modern quality-of-life touches.
love the anime scenes!!!!!! so far im drawn to the story line and seeing what the characters have to offer! got side tracked doing some side quests! cant wait to explore more. id definetly check it out, its not often you get cute anime as well as a fun game.
Boooooooy howdy did I really wanna enjoy this game. Player advancement is so painfully slow and the enemies are such HP sponges that every battle is a test of endurance until you've way WAY outleveled it. But even so, Though it's nice to not have a zero brain RPG where u click attack and win there has to be a happy medium and this misses it by a long while. Every encounter you better bring your A game and stratgize well even on random mooks. It gets exhausting epecially in the beginning of the game where it's incredibly stingy with item-curatives . Sure you have your magic but once you're low MP you've just got to grit down more. And there's hardly a reason to heal in a fight as doing so is a losing proposition until you have first aid + . Bad, boring, hard in an uninteresting way
