The Novelist asks one central question: can you achieve your dreams without pushing away the people you love? The game focuses on Dan Kaplan, a novelist struggling to write the most important book of his career while trying to be the best husband and father he can be.

This was one of the worst games I have ever experienced. I played it when I first got my steam account. The equivalent of a toilet in a modern art studio. Pretentious
Quick Review The Novelist. In this game you play as some kind of ghost or spirit that observes the 3 member family that moves into a summer home. You investigate the thoughts of the family and objects around to determine their desires and at the end of the day, you influence Dan on what desire to prioritize. This can lead to varying outcomes and differing endings from what I've seen. The visual/graphic style is... okay. It's not much to look at and serves its purpose. You're in the house for all of the game. There's quite a bit of text to read and it's rather small. Audio is... not that good. The music was dull and the game has this high-pitched noise for the objects/thoughts of interest that was so bothersome that I had to turn the sound FX off. The voiceovers were all right, however. Honestly, I thought the game was rather boring to play and while it does offer multiple outcomes and potential replayability, I felt no desire to do so and couldn't connect with the characters. I wouldn't recommend it to but most diehard indie game players. 5/10
Loved this game. The technology and ideas behind its development are awesome and I really hope it gets the immortal success it deserves.
You will impersonate a ghost, who infests a holiday house. This was rented for the summer by a family facing several problems in their relationship with each other as well as in the husband's job as a novelist. For some reason, you assign yourself the task to stalk them in their holiday house and try to help them as much as you can. All of this sneaking around and trying to stay unseen (call me Ghost Snake :D). The idea is nice and quite original. However, at the end you will find yourself repeating the whole time the same, few actions (reading minds, possessing lights, reading memories, collecting clues) in the very same environment, since the whole game will take place in the house. The result is an incredibly boring gameplay, at least for me. The story was kind of trivial and expected, including the house story (it was clear that it has to have one, otherwise our main "character" would be minding his own business :D). Not bad, but not so good to motivate myself to complete the game, at least. Last piece of information for Linux users willing to try this: I tried it on Ubuntu 24.04 and the controls were not responding at all. I don't know whether that was just my problem, but at the end I had to play it on Windows. If you want to buy it, install it immediately and check whether it works, so that you are eligible for a refund in case you are affected by the same issue.

NAH, to depressive and not rly great in its telling or gameplay, its more of a visual novell where you "Ghost" arround and watch em suffer.
