The Night Market

I remember finding an intro to this game on tumblr when the game just started production. I have to say, re-discovering it was a treat! I really like the whole concept of the Night Market, and the amount of customization for the main character. I was a little worried by the looks of the characters that I wouldn't really get attached to them, but once I started getting to know them I instantly changed my mind. I think this was a great entry point for me into the world of interactive fiction. I initially loved the imagery of how the Night Market would look to someone who'd never experienced it before. The way I was imagining it was like a colorful Tim Burton-style movie. if you're sparking my imagination that much, I'd say it's good writing! Now for the negative....there are many spelling and grammar errors. This is really just a personal gripe, as it's really easy to just ignore. I played as a male, and about a quarter to the end I noticed the characters swapping between he and they. I had to keep re-reading some parts to properly understand what they were talking about. Other than that though, great story, highly recommend this one! I did Gabriel's route and loved it very much.

An incredible game, which will throw you (quite literally) in an immersive world full of mysteries, lore and colorful characters ! The story is breathtaking in its own way, it gets to you and throws you off the hook with each revelation, but looking back : each of them makes sense. The main character themselves are off that hook, which allows to a really interesting view of the Market, especially when compared to other characters. I really enjoyed learning more about the world, its rules and specificities, and the stakes at hand. Now, I really cannot talk about this game without talking about the characters, because they are, in my opinion, the best part of the game. Each character, from the main cast to the secondary characters, has their own set of morals and values, as well as objectives and opinions about the Night Market and the events of the plot. The worlbuilding truly impacts the characters and WHAT they are profoundly impacts their actions. A majority of the characters are far from one-dimensional ; they have their qualities and flaws, which can impact the main character (and by extansion, the player), in various ways. All characters have their own agenda, which may or may not collide with the others', and that's what makes the story interesting. More precisely, the main cast, which is also composed of the potential love interests are a TREAT, especially due to their own imperfections ; their flaws are numerous, you may or may not call them out on them, but they are a part of them that makes them all the more interesting. Most of all, all characters exist OUTSIDE of the MC, they all have relationships and links with other, even among the main cast, and truly belong to the Night Market, even if it is in truly various ways. The romances are incredible as well. And the ending will break your heart, but there is a second book in the work ! Really, to sum it up, this game is really good, if you like interactive fiction and original worldbuilding I totally recommend it !

I ADORE this book. The characters are fantastic, the story is engaging, and the world is vivid and interesting. There are the occasional grammar and spelling mistakes common in self published books, but they don't detract from the reader comprehension. I am foaming at the mouth for book 2.

I don't really love how often the opportunity for a poly relationship comes up for Gabriel and Belladonna. I feel like I've selected no several times and then there always seems to be a very charged encounter between both of them with no option to talk about it from the characters perspective.

I've fallen in love with this IF, with its detailed world-building and its well written characters I was instantly hooked. As I delved deeper into this rabbit role I was captivated by the level of depth that this story took me. I wanted to find out more of what the night market is and how it tied to the characters but as well as with the MC. All these characters I interacted with all carried a burden/trauma which they are learning to overcome or accept which made them more human and they all hold secrets once you go deeper into the story or choose to romance any of the characters. I definitely recommend playing this IF as the creator and many others who helped made this into an incredible experience for me and I enjoyed every minute reading it. I hope you guys enjoy it just as much as I did
