Combat makes absolutely no sense and the tutorial does a horrid job of explaining it and honestly the combat seemed so insanely mind numbing that i couldnt care to learn it anymore after 20 minutes. Worst rougelike ive ever played
This game is criminally underrated, and if you're even slightly interested in From The Top, then don't hesitate to buy it. I mean, it's price tag is already insanely low, I don't see what else could get you more on board than that. As for my more thorough thoughts: out of every roguelike I have ever played (which granted, isn't many), this one is the most laid back. It's the kind of game you turn on when you have some free time and a bowl of some Goldfish crackers to the side to munch on. My one issue is that the game felt really short to 100 percent. Maybe some more content could be added later, but as of now, I was decently content with what I played. Give this game a go when you can!
I reaaaally wanted to like this game. i grew up with beyblade and i like the art style and soundtrack a lot. Unfortunately, in practice the gameplay is really inconsistent, the controls are jank, and the difficulty curve goes from very difficult to mindnumbingly easy instantly. Once you get the top that floats you're basically unbeatable. Don't get me wrong, the powertrip is fun, but I found myself having more fun spitefully crushing the game itself more than any of the tops in it. I'd say check this game out if you want to play a decent beyblade video game, but prepare to be frustrated.
The game is... okay. For the price it's worth it but the game feels more like a demo to show off a cool concept rather than a full game. The artstyle while cool relies too heavily on a strong dithering filter; if the artstyle was instead sculpted with a less heavy dithering effect in mind I think it would have been much better. The tutorial could have also been a lot more streamlined, the way it is presented makes the player able to accidentally miss one very important bit of information if they look away for a short moment then need to restart the whole tutorial over again to see what they missed. Some sort of text log would be an easy fix for that. The content itself is fun but very short, you can experience everything with one or two quick playthroughs. The balancing itself is also not the greatest with certain combinations being instant wins and too easily acquirable. With all of this taken into consideration I don't think the game is bad but I don't think it's good. What saves it from being bad is how cheap the game is makes it hard to argue that the purchase is regrettable. I've seen the teasers for the second game of the same concept and I have to say I am much more excited for that as it looks more like an actual game than a short demo. While I can't exactly in good conscious leave a bad review for this game as it's so cheap I would suggest skipping this and waiting for the next game instead unless you are really fiending for a taste of what's to come.
The fact the game shows off it's gameplay in the main menu is amazing, I'm like 5 minutes in, just messing around in the main menu. Haven't even touched anything yet, still I have to discover the game. Amazing to getting me hooked just in the main menu. Yeah worth to buy, if you like BeyBlade now or in the past, this is more than a single bey, it's art. 0.7 hour in( edit): - Been playing the tutorial for a bit to get used to the control, skills and upgrades of the bey. - Spotted there is a 6 digit seed number, for the actual path you take from the top, very interesting!
Very solid gamejam game! Combines some of my favorite things: Beyblade and Rougelites. A fun way to spend a few hours clearing it 100% The only weak parts are the lack of customization for tops (most of them are prebuilds, with one option to combine), and the balance on some tops making a very slow, grindy match (Looking at you, third boss >:C ) Totally worth it if you miss the beyblade games, and the unlockable characters/tops can be really fun to try.
MAYBE I'm doing something wrong, but I kinda hate it. Love the concept/idea, but the gameplay just isn't for me. Probably a skill issue but I cannot grasp the combat and it's frustrating. It almost feels like theres a type chart variant that exists but I can't figure out what it could be. Doesn't help that the tutorial doesn't explain the combat enough, and spends too much time showing off the "quirky" character and its dumb dialogue. Some levels I destroy with no issue, others I get totally rolled. Again, you could argue skill is needed here and I don't have that which is fair, but I dunno. For example, I felt frustrated fighting the guard shield. I could tell the counter was to attack it while its shield was down but I just felt annoyed fighting against it. Same with the Lone Vampire. I cannot figure out the counter to it as I'm writing this, and the health stealing effect is just too frustrating. Gaining back like 25 out of its 60 health when it kills you is so stupid. I love roguelikes and I know if I could understand this game more I might like it, but at this moment I don't. I'm just disappointed.
Game is actually really fun, it’s quite hard and there were a lot of times where I felt I lost due to factors completely out of my control but it always felt like I could boot it back up and try to come up with a strategy to get through. There’s genuine skill barriers which is great. My biggest criticism is the lack of customization, I’ll be honest being able to make customized tops was almost the entire reason I was interested in this game to begin with, but as far as I can tell that feature is just completely missing from the game despite being advertised, and for that reason I just can’t recommend the game. If you choose to continue updating, my biggest ask would be a map encounter that lets you swap parts, other than that it’s a pretty great little indie game that’s just missing a big feature that you’ve advertised on the store page.
Finally able to live out my dreams of becoming a Beyblade master! Pretty fun and short game, really recommend if you like spinning tops and/or roguelikes plus it's really cheap
really fun and original game !!!! I like the gameplay, it's kinda unique, I also enjoy the "deck buildings" mechanics, it's really fun to experiment with the combining mechanics, and all of the beyblade is different and fun to master... but I think the game need some balancing, the ghost top for exemple is too powerful in many mach-up (especially at the last arena)... and i really do love the artstyle !! however sometimes it's too pixelated and I don't understand what is going on (especially in the last boss)... A really great game with cool gameplay and mechanics !!!!! (btw sorry my bad english i'm not really fluent)
