I loved the first chapter. Im super excited for the next release of Chapter 2 and will be sitting on the edge of my seat anticipating the next release. This game is more story rich in my opinion than it is puzzle and horror (dont get it twisted as there ARE puzzles and a bit of them and as well as horror elements). The puzzles stumped me momentarily once or twice, but i got through them. Dont get me wrong i loved getting stumped occasionally. The horror aspect was tame, maybe a jump scare here and there, but wasnt overly annoying. It has more of an atmospheric feel of horror than what a typical horror game has, like being chased or a monster lurking around the corner. I Loved Loved Loved this game.
It felt like the main head behind this (of Chapter 1 at least) was a child of divorce that went through lots and lots of therapy to deal with their trauma. Aside from that, the puzzles were good and the jump scares did their job. The movement was annoying at times but I guess that was to fit with the atmosphere of the game. Another thing is the graphics. They went from really good to not so good. Either that or there was an intentional growing smog. Intentional or not, I found myself squinting a lot. The sharpness of certain things with the blurriness of others was a headache to see too. I enjoyed it overall though. Looking forward to Chapter 2 & 3.

Good game. Says walking simulator but had a fair amount of puzzles. Graphics were great. Soundtrack was right on point. I spent most of my time wondering wtf was going on but it was enjoyable. Finally pieced most of it together. Game can be completed in short order but i spent a fair amount of time looking around. Looking forward to the next chapters!
Yeah, where do I even start? This game is honestly one of the best indie games I have ever played. From the moment I started, I was hooked. The graphics were fantastic, the atmosphere was incredibly well-crafted, and I never experienced any lag or technical issues that took me out of the experience. Everything felt polished and carefully designed, which made it even easier to get immersed in the world. One of the biggest strengths of the game is its story. It constantly kept me interested and wanting to know more. Every new discovery raised more questions, and I found myself eager to keep playing just to uncover another piece of the mystery. That said, I do think the story is a little confusing at times. However, since this is only Chapter One, that confusion might be completely intentional. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, and I imagine future chapters will either clarify the events of this story or expand on them in unexpected ways. Of course, there's always the possibility that the developers decide to move in a different direction and introduce a new protagonist or storyline altogether. Either way, I'm curious to see where things go from here. The puzzles were another highlight for me. They felt creative, unique, and rewarding when I finally figured them out. That being said, there were definitely moments where I had absolutely no idea what the game wanted me to do. The puzzle involving the brain in the mother's room nearly broke me. Seriously, I was stuck on that puzzle for hours. I kept running around, trying different things, and questioning whether I had missed something obvious. Eventually I solved it, but not before it completely destroyed my confidence. To be fair, though, I am definitely not a puzzle person. Maybe I'm just terrible at them, maybe I'm impatient, or maybe I'm simply not smart enough for some of these challenges. Whatever the reason, the game still managed to make solving them feel satisfying in the end. What really stayed with me after finishing the game, however, was the emotional side of the story. Beneath the mystery and horror elements lies a much darker exploration of family relationships, trauma, and mental illness. The way these themes were presented felt surprisingly genuine and impactful. Some parts hit harder than I expected because they felt relatable. Dysfunctional family relationships are unfortunately something many people can recognize, whether through their own experiences or through people they know. The game doesn't just use these topics for shock value—it builds an emotional foundation that makes the story feel meaningful and human. Overall, this game was an incredible experience. It managed to combine beautiful visuals, an intriguing mystery, memorable puzzles, and emotionally powerful themes into something that genuinely stood out from most indie games I've played. Despite the moments of frustration, especially with the puzzles, I enjoyed every second of it and couldn't stop thinking about it once I finished. If future chapters can maintain this level of quality while answering some of the questions left behind, this could easily become one of my favorite indie game series of all time. 10/10. I would absolutely play it again—if only I weren't so hopeless when it comes to puzzles.
El primer capítulo de The Lies We Tell Ourselves atrapa y deja con ganas de más. Análisis completo en: https://todasgamers.com/2025/02/27/analisis-de-the-lies-we-tell-ourselves/
Great puzzles
Had to abandon the game, it looks good, but the save points are too far apart in some spots, spent considerable time working thru a scene, thought it had saved, went back in, had to do the same thing over again, persisted with it, spent more time, got further had to leave the game, went back in again and lost 2 hours, Can't deal with that I'm afraid, should be an easy fix....developers ???
Very touching story, got immersed fairly quickly. Hooked to see what the next chapter holds.
