Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Good story with great combat
Art style and localization are all in extreme decline, and by this point the series assumes you're so familiar with how to break its combat system it doesn't even try to balance any of the math. I dunno I keep playing it though. What do I know about what I like.
Feels like a mixture of the story structures from Sky 1st and Zero, taking the best parts of both and combining them. While this first game introduces Rean and his class, laying the groundwork for the rest of his story, the ending is foreshadowed heavily, with multiple twists being predictable if you pay enough attention. The gameplay is massively improved from Crossbell, though in no small part due to going 3D. While the overworld movement is a little hard to get used to, it's balanced out by the combat. The removal of the grid for aiming allows for a lot more freedom in determining what you want to do. Links make the game a little easy, but thematically they're great and they're fun to use. By far the biggest change is the Quartz system. Rather than adding up how much of each element exists in a line and giving arts based on that, each Quartz does what it says. HP gives HP, Aqua Bleed gives Aqua Bleed. While it makes the system very simple, it nonetheless allows for flexibility and build diversity to an extent. Overall this game improves upon most aspects of the Liberl and Crossbell games, and the unique things it introduces lay a strong groundwork for future games. I still prefer Sky 3rd or Azure over this game, but that goes without saying in the first game of a five game arc.

This is a combined review for both cs 1 and 2 since they are directly related CS1: This game did a great job introducing the new setting and casts. The places in erebonia are interesting and the class vii are quite likeable. They also improved the battle system to make it more approachable thought simpler. I don't mind this since we need to maintain a lot more party members. Since the routine is quite predictable, this game somehow has a comfy charm to it CS2: This is where you get the payoff from the setup in CS1. The highs in this game are certainly really up there and feels awesome, but the pacing toward the end is horrendous. I didn't expect at least 4 different parts for an epilogue. Overall, these are still a really good JRPG even though it is nowhere near the quality of sky or zero ao IMHO 7.5/10
It's Trails baby it's lit
It you are the kind of player who tends to enjoy side content over this main story, or someone who likes the granular details of NPCs, this is the franchise for you. You could even start with this one! If you have the patience/money, start with either the remake of the first game (Trails in the Sky) or with the OG Trails in the Sky. If this particular entry is catching your fancy, then yes, this is the Cold Steel game to start with!
i HATE cold steel bro... that's what i said on my first run, on my second playthrough? Still hate it 9/10 game
8/10 whould be a perfect score if the game hade full voice acting.
