About
Overview
The Last Disease Z is a harsh open-world survival experience where every step can be your last. The abandoned island hides not only traces of civilization but also threats lurking in the shadows. Fight, build, and explore to survive amidst chaos, where the living can be just as dangerous as the dead.
The island looks peaceful only at first glance. An abandoned city, deserted villages, a ruined military base - all of it reminds you of a time when humans still controlled what was happening. Now chaos reigns: zombies roam the streets, mutants hide in the forests, and armed bandits set up ambushes at the most valuable points of interest.
You'll start from scratch: gather resources, craft tools, build a shelter, and defend it from raids by other players and hostile factions. Every trip beyond your base is a test. Every item you find is a chance to survive a little longer.
Develop your character's skills, explore the island, hunt, and fight - only the toughest will endure.

For $8 you are playing an EA of a 8th graders computer class project. It is bare. Building is ok, but can't move placed objects. The gathering is tedious. The toolbar is a tedious add and remove of food, water, tools, weapons and built items. Killing a mob has you chase a loot bag after it dies across the screen to maybe see if it has needed items in it. The audio is horrendous. Unless you set it all to zero it is max volume for everything the sliderss do not work. The rain alone every 25 secs will make you deaf. The health meter is decent. Food and water are meh. Stamina bar means more needless watching. Repair kits are a waste of mats as barely fixes a wooden tool completely. No toggle for sprint. Map is meh. No ability to place markers for base location. I can't recommend this when SurrounDead is out there.
What's that? A barely altered Easy Survival RPG, with Synty art assets? Even using the same fonts? And the defaults for just about everything? There's nothing wrong with getting a template (good artists copy, great artists steal) but a little level design does not a new game make.

This game is absolutely empty. Clunky inventory and item management, small map, and the map is literally empty, I have visited a few points of interest i saw on the map like the airport, absolutely zero worthwhile loot. Tons of military props and about 2 almost empty ammo boxes scattered around the whole perimeter. The boss has 9000 hp, your axe does 12 damage, your pistol rounds about 60. The normal zombies have 400 hp, so killing them takes very long for about no loot. And they spawn instantly back in when you walk 20 meters away from the location. You can even see them dropping from about 1 meter when they spawn, which kills immersion too. You can loot so few containers that looting is not really fun. Opening up containers that are visually high value loot gives you a jar and 3 sulfur. Not fun to play, had to refund. It does run okay-ish, contrary what I read in other reviews, but I have a good pc. These voxel graphics should not take up a lot of pc resources though.
I can see this game having potential but the release is, in my opinion, not worth trying out yet. The game needs more work, even for an EA version. I would consider this an early alpha version of the game, not ready to be released as an EA and in need of much more than just some polishing and bug hunting. I played a short time in this game. In my gameplay, it felt as if I was handed everything I need very quickly, right from the start. I spawned in a camp, near the coast, without much around me. The camp offered me 4 different weapons, more crafting materials than I could carry and more food and water than I needed to stay alive. My pockets were full. When venturing out, I quickly found zombies scattered around the starting area, some were in bigger groups, but they were all easy to avoid. They don't spot you when you get closer. The distance for them to be aggravated and come for you, feels way to short. I could basically walk up to them, have the length of a in-game character between me and the zombie before they triggered. When I found a farm area, very near the starting area, I had everything I needed to build a base. I already had pockets full of crafting materials, which I had to put in a random container to be able to gather more. Within the first 20 minutes of playing, I had a base (6x5 foundations) with walls and a roof (not ceilings). I still was able to get enough stuff to build a second floor if I wanted. The reason for the abundant amount of resources was looting and the pace trees and other natural resources were spawning back. I could chop the same tree at least three times within 5 to 8 minutes. The containers contain plenty of resources to not even need to chop a tree. Looting one box provides sometimes more logs and planks than one chopped tree. Regarding tools, I play a lot of survival games and as in many others, and because of the abundant amount of resources, I crafted my first essential tools at the starting camp. When Finding the farm area, those tools were quickly discarded because the farms offer several iron tools for you to use. Anything from building your foundations, to the necessary workbenches and tools can be done without grinding to find resources. I understand that the game has more to offer than the basic items you get at the start. But the way the game started for me removed all motivation to continue and explore the rest of the map. Zombies are easy to kill, there is more food and water than you can ever eat and travel times to new locations seem very long. The balance is not there, it is to easy. If you're expecting a similar experience as Surroundead, you'll be disappointed greatly. This game is nothing alike, except for the graphics and assets. The gameplay of The Last Disease Z is less balanced and more bare bone than Surroundead. If you don't want to grind and like the lack of the feeling of the survival aspect, than this game is for you in its current state. Otherwise wait and see what the updates bring.
Game operates good, no lag, but very empty even for a early release game. One zombie on the shore line. No animals except rats at spawn. Items seem to spawn in groups per location, ( all wood drops spawn in one group of houses, next group of houses will have planks ) 2.4 hours in and i have explored and completed as much as i could. " Loot Boxs " were all empty.
EDIT 1: Found the nodes, if you stay at the start area, be prepared for a long hike/walk for getting there, for me it was on the other side of the map. Also i roamed about 80% now and the world is everything but empty by the way, more then enough stuff to find. Again, please fix the input settings :-) I noticed the following also. 1. Loot - Whenever you chop a tree, try to pick up a apple or kill a zombie, the items can roll away from you faster then light, this is quite annoying since sometimes the loot has so much speed i cant keep up or its gone. 2. A vehicle would be nice - I am building my 2nd base on the other side of the map close to the nodes. They give more then enough iron, flint and stone, but when you are too heavy its too long to walk towards my other base. 3. Loot boxes - Its just weird when i get two grenade launchers after killing two zombies, but when i scavenge inside houses, there a some big a$$ boxes but 9 out of 10 times all is empty. 4. Zombies - Not very hard if you know the trick, would be nice if they are more aggressive 5. Bandits - Same story, if you have a weapon, you can kill them before you are in their range 6. Weapon Handling - As soon as i start the game again from a previous save, i have to aim down the sight with pistol/rifle/assault rifle. If i don't do that i cant reload the weapons. 7. At the moment i am eating a lot of apples due to building a new, or 2nd, base camp. But when i have them apples on hotkey 6 for example, i have to manually add the newly picked up apple(s) to my hot bar, would love to see this automatically after pick up. This goes for other items in the hot bar too. Hope this helps a bit. So....7 hours and a bit in and i can give this a quick review. For me its going to be a thumbs up. Yes its early access, yes it heavily hangs on the other pixel games, i saw a lot of similar items, but i do like it. The game runs fine by the way, no lags, stutters etc. Frames solid at 144. The tutorial could use some fresh perspective, since it does not tell you about the water collector for example, but i also wouldn't mind if you have the option to skip the whole tutorial Killed the first boss, it wasn't easy, but it has been done. But that being said, i will give it a thumbs down if the fixes are not coming out in a timely matter. I am not talking about cars or something like a dragon, but quite simply input settings. It bugs the hell out of me that i have to change the control input every time i start up the game. What i also don't understand is the nodes, i mean where art thou!? I have been roaming around the map a bit, seen some new places behind the starter area, but i have yet to find the nodes we saw in the demo. All in all, this is a game for the die hard fans who don't mind the bugs and other general irritable points, but for around 7 euro's i'm (still) having fun, even now that i killed the first boss and finished the tutorial. I am now gearing up to venture further, its kinda tough since there are (not yet) vehicles inside, so lets see what's up the road!
Loved the concept of being able to play with friends online, but issues stopped us dead in our tracks. 1. Seems very unoptimized, struggled to get 60fps on a good pc and wasnt able to adjust to 144fps or higher 2. Crafting scuffs such as obtaining flint and "water jar". Cant find water jar on crafting table at all, and no ores seem to be mineable. 3. Settings to change mouse and/or graphic settings need to be adjusted. Will potentially change this review in the future as development happens, but at this point its surely not worth spending ANY money on, even at such a low price.
