About
The world you knew is gone.
You awaken as the last active Caretaker, a machine built for one purpose: save humanity. Across a vast ocean covering the ruins of Earth, you must recover human seeds, restore the Lazarus Complex, and prepare the next generation for launch into orbit.
The Last Caretaker is a first-person survival-crafting game about systems, choices, and purpose. Every resource matters. Every structure has a reason to exist. Every success gives humanity one more chance.

Recover human seeds and return them to the Lazarus Complex. Manage their growth, restore memory data, and prepare them for life beyond Earth.
Scavenge abandoned facilities, dismantle wreckage, and recycle materials into tools, weapons, power networks, and essential modules. Restore the machinery needed to keep the mission alive.
Rogue machines, hostile systems and the world itself will push back. Repair and maintain, upgrade your equipment, and protect what remains.
Restore ancient launch infrastructure, chart the ocean, gather resources and memories, and send the humans you raised into orbit. The mission is not survival for its own sake. It is a continuation.
Explore silent Sanctuary docks, Refuel Outposts, Underwater cities, and long-forgotten Seed Vaults. The story is uncovered through places, logs, memories, and the remains of a civilization that tried to outlive its own world.

Managing Chaos, One Connection at a Time. The Last Caretaker is a brilliant blend of atmosphere and engineering, but the absolute star of the show is its incredibly satisfying logistics loop. If you are the type of player who gets a dopamine hit from perfect cable management and efficient routing, this game is pure bliss. There is something immensely rewarding about taking a chaotic, offline facility and meticulously bringing it back to life—physically laying down networks of pipes and snapping cables into place to bridge the gap between dead machines and vital power sources. The mechanics of connecting everything don't just feel like a chore; they feel like the heartbeat of the game. Watching a tangled web of infrastructure finally snap together, seeing the power flow, and watching the facility hum to life because of your routing choices is deeply gratifying. It turns a desolate survival setting into an absolute playground for anyone who loves puzzle-solving, automation, and clean engineering. Rating: 9/10 — Perfect for anyone who lives for a good wiring and plumbing puzzle.
Very unique worldbuilding. The lore and world discovery is close to halflife2 and the mechanics all work quite well together. Multiple resource chains that are at least somewhat realistic (they almost got the Sabatier reaction right) and gotta love the gyrocopter. Performance could use some optimization but overall it runs impressively given the size of the world and complexity of systems, just a few lag spikes in some places if you have decent specs. Basically every object even loot items are rendered with physics. There are some bugs but they are rare, storage fell through ship and it only happened once.
I'm not the type of people who would usually write a review .. but this game is one of the rare gems on steam. for a game that still in early access .. they made an amazing game .. Simple and smart .. it doesnt have much of of intense fights .. but enough to keep ur game interesting the surviving challenges are just good without being a real burden .. I loved this game .. Yet, what I would love to see more updates and contents ..why not allow a coop campaign .. either 2-4 players coop will add much fun to the game ..yes I know the game name is last caretaker .. Also, It would be nice if we could add more ships to upgrade .. a bigger ship so the players can build more .. Ship carrying capacity would be fun and get players to build more camps to store their items .. Lastly, some tp points would help lazy players like me from spending hours traveling back and forth " cost is fuel ofc" .. thnx for the great game

unstable and sometimes even unplayable... i did lost lot of progress several times. idea of the game is great, could have been the best game ever but it's not because of the bugs and unusable controls of the vehicles (e.g. jet-ski) . i have 120+ hours on the game and i'm ditching it... will give it a try once they fix the bugs... it happened to me on several occasions that after jumping to water i started to sink forever and the whole progress was lost... (and autosave was 1+ hour behind for whatever reason)... or the drop pod got stuck in the sky and after reloading the game it disappeared., so no reward for sending a rocket full of humans... the game has a great potential but the current implementation is way too buggy to invest your time into the gameplay.
Thanks for making this! 49 jpurs in an no plans of stopping!I would rave more but my cat i attacking the key board while Iam trying to explain how awesome this is.
Its a fun game with a lot to do but before you play look up a video on how to start the game because it can be confusing but other than that its an amazing game.
