About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

TODD HOWARD IN ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SHAMBLES MORROWIND IS BACK BABY
Wait until after EA and if it hasn't been ruined by divine intervention it'll 100% a great game
There are moments all button inputs don't work, nothing helps except closing the game unfortunately. Haven't played much but already there's a big amount of "freedom" from the get-go. Wish you could give the beast races hairstyle or faciAL HAir. If my Lizardman Cat dood could have a moustache that would be peak. Will updoot the review when I get more hours in

absolutely love the idea for this game. it feels so fun, and the co-op aspect is a huge push for me. HOWEVER, after the day two patches my current playthrough with my friend is completely broken. Enemies no longer attack me or my friend, my friend cannot damage enemies. His camera is broken, and even i am unable to kill him to attempt any fixes. reloading saves, restarting the game, nothing helps. the game, at least from a co-op perspective is just broken and unplayable. will update the review after some new updates and once the game becomes a proper gem and not a broken mess. don't buy this now, if you are looking for a co-op RPG experience. it will leave you bummed out, and disappointed.
Only 3 hours logged at time of review, but I can already tell this game is amazing. I chose a lizard race and the first guy who talked to me was racist. This is the new Elder Scrolls that fans have been wanting. Minor improvement notes for future versions: - NPCs regularly teleported above or below buildings when spawning in, causing some quests to be impossible to complete when the questgiver got stuck on top of a roof or in a locked inside building. (this was actually kind of funny once I realized what was happening. If this is an intentional Morrowind type bug pls keep it) - Optimization on low end machines. I assume this will come with future updates, but everytime I entered a new area or navigated the menu I was watching a slide show. 90% of the game ran consistently at 50-60fps and I don't have the best rig so this could just be my own issue, but I found the game stuttered whenever I went into a large area (particularly the central tower) In general this is one of the most complete early access releases I've seen in a long time. Do not hesitate to buy if you're worried about a lack of content in 3 hours I felt I just barely scratched the surface. At the current discount price this is a no brainer.
yes
I've been super excited for this game to drop, as an avid ES3 fan. The early access so far has been great. I wanted to make the developers aware, though I'm sure they already are, of a desync issue when you die in multiplayer. Scenario: I join my friends game, die, whether he revives me or not, the environments starts moving around me, teleporting my character a few feet in any direction. I thought I was able to fix it. I saved the game while this was happening and it stopped, only to realize that I couldn't see my friend, but he could see me. He could damage and even kill me but it would have zero impact on my character other that the occasional armor level up. Thanks so much for a cool experience. I'll pick it back up after a few updates. Looking forward to what's to come. <3
it never, let me play at all i've tried evrything but nothing ever worked when i tried clicking play it just kicks me,even when i got to character creation i was kicked. i waited,a whole month for this game and,i feel screwed over.
low fps and input lag even on the lowest settings, and many of the textures aren't fully loading. I really wanna give this game a chance but I can't in its current state
Indie Morrowind/Oblivion for better and for worse. I'd compare this to Tainted Grail. Both are recreations of the Bethesda formula but doing it an enticing way. This game leans more into the old-school vibe while also maintaining enough QOL and modern features to still be an enjoyable journey. There is voice acting for most lines, I only found a couple cases of no voice acting. Matt Mercer voices a character which is awesome, and then the voice acting cast does a stellar job with the rest. This game is a love letter for a certain type of gamer, and it'll click really well with that particular gamer. I imagine the co-op would be pretty fun as well, I definitely need to check that out. So far, it's a big recommendation from me. The music, atmosphere, world building, voice acting, and gameplay loop is very enjoyable. I'm gonna list bugs / general things I'd like to see - More rewards for swimming, I've been swimming a LOT and haven't found much just going around the edge of the map. -Enemies can teleport through walls and sometimes bug out on walls. I had an enemy go through the door and attack me WHILE I was lockpicking said door haha -I'd like to see more lore / lore notes. The NPC at the start dumps a LOT of lore about the surrounding areas, but it'd be cool to learn the lore of a place by being there as well :) -more variety in loot. I'm not far enough in to fully judge it, im basically doing the outskirts of the map first. -more variation/loot in houses. some of the areas will have a lot to explore but not much density inside the actual objects themselves. -Why are zombies/skeleton and fishmen vibing with each other? Some of the enemy placement feels..weird. -Doors should lock from the inside. Eg. If I somehow get into a room without a key, I should be able to freely open the door once in. I had an npc open a door and then I got softlocked inside. I imagine a lot of these are on the list to be fleshed out, but I wanted to note them anyway.
