About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

Reviews
I beat the game as a naked brawler. At first, I wondered why I chose this build. At some point, I took down a weird big strong bird. After that, the slaughter began. I killed everyone, even friendly units, and the game still let me finish the playthrough.
The only thing this has going for it right now is the *promise* of multiplayer Morrowind. And that seems like a distant promise at this point. The skeleton of the world and the lore is there and, while moderately intriguing, needs fleshing out. The gameplay itself feels like it is still in an experimental state. When multiplayer gets thrown into the mix, the jank and the bugs really start to show. Where the game is not empty, it is full of placeholders and incomplete questlines. This seems more like the quality you could expect from an aggressively early closed beta, not from a product that developers are asking you to pay for. No one should be paying money for this incomplete garbage when functional multiplayer mods exist for Morrowind and other Elder Scrolls titles.

wish the textures didnt go blurry after opening my menu but otherwise a whale of a time
This game is PHENOMENAL. Play it. The only thing I can see being a problem is the no quest markers thing which I know this game does on purpose. So if that isn't your thing, just wait for a guide on the internet, then play lol. I cannot wait for Holy Fool. I'm in now NervLabs, keep it comin.
please lemme be frowg
This game absolutely has the potential to be a cult classic. I don't see the normie audience playing this, but people who loved Morrowind will likely fall in love with The Lantern of the Laughless Saint. There are many rough edges to sand down and much polish to be applied but with time and care this will be a masterpiece. + Plot is immediately engaging + The world is immersive and seamless
No loading screens?!
+ Character progression is solid and fun + Skills and perks actually feel impactful + Artstyle is sublime and the world is beautiful + Cheap price - Janky and buggy at times - Map feels confusing - Journal is useless and gives zero direction - Finding points of interest in the world is difficult due to the foliage - Quite heavy on the GPU considering the graphics Almost 15 years since the last Elder Scrolls game some random indie dudes drop a gem like this. I can't wait to see what they manage to do with this.
takes a moment, but it is absolute juice
Devs seem committed, but this is so far from being complete, I highly doubt they can maintain the trajectory needed to finish this skeleton of a game. Not a single aspect of it is fleshed out. I know what early access entails, but this really should not have been released as it is. *Unreal Engine 5 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I don't understand why indie developers try to use it.*
The disclaimer says there isn't any AI in this game, which is good. But it also says there is no genitalia. Which is bad.
This is some ambitious game that feels like a (good ) fever dream , honestly mindblowned how good it plays and feels. Great job on the voice acting as well!
