I think this game is great way to start learning a new language. You can also use the Duolingo or Memrise, which is free and has more content than "The Language Game". You can also try to use the game "Influent", which is also available on steam store.

Waste of time, space, money and effort. Avoid even if offered for free.

The Language Game is a very badly made "educational" language word quiz game that looks more like a browser app/webpage or a mobile app than a serious PC game. You choose your language then the language you want to learn, and then you're prompted with a series of quiz questions that may or may not guide you to learn some words and phrases from the target language. Starting off, this is very bad even at achieving what it sets out to do. There's only a tiny vocabulary in the quiz game so you'll get questions repeating even in the first quiz you do. It's almost a joke. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features mostly static, barely animated 2D images, the kind of thing you expect to see in browser/flash games. While the artwork itself, while mediocre, might be considered passable, the visual presentation here is negligible, it might as well be a slideshow or a Youtube video. Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Asteroids had more advanced animation and visuals going on than this game does. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just point and click stuff like a browser/Flash game. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static images... it might as well be a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. The Language Game is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. Duolingo is far better and that's completely free to get started with.

Je n'y ai joué que 5 minutes mais pour 0,49€ (ce qui ne représente rien) on a un Très bon "jeu". Je suis très habitué à Duolingo pour apprendre de manière gratuite à développer mes compétences linguistiques. Mais ce jeu vaut quand même largement le coup pour avoir les bases linguistiques dans plusieurs langues tout en étant simple et rapide d'utilisation. Alors évidemment il n'y a pas beaucoup de langues mais pour ce prix-là, je recommande vivement l'achat. En ayant joué, seul, 5 minutes de "jeu", je peux d'ores et déjà rendre compte de certaines facettes du jeu Les + : - interface user friendly - qualité des enregistrements des voix et accents authentiques - manière très ludique d'apprendre les bases de langues européennes qui servent dans les situations courantes ! - l'intégration dans steam de ce "jeu" permet de développer des connaissances sans devoir aller sur un site internet et utiliser login et password pour lancer des animations = gain de temps ! -le prix !!! même à 5€, pour la qualité du contenu, ça vaut le coup. Les - : - nombre de langues à pouvoir apprendre - je n'ai pas encore eu le temps de faire le tour de tous les modules mais le nombre d'expressions/mots à pouvoir apprendre est très restreint Encore une fois, c'est un très bon début pour développer son savoir linguistique et les bases. Je ne l'ai pas testé en binôme mais ça ne peut qu'y ajouter des aspects positifs. Pour celles/ceux qui veulent se changer les idées et apprendre quelque chose entre 2 fps, c'est le "jeu" parfait !

还是有点意思的，包括单人学习模式和双人游戏模式。 里面的语言全是欧洲的拉丁语衍生语，比如英语，西班牙语，法语，德语，意大利语，可以从一种语言的基础学另一种语言。

I think the way this game works is that it assumes you know not a single word of the language you want to lear and then you have to complete all sections of level one before you move on. This is a bit extreme, so I can only recommend this to a complete beginner and when it is really cheap. So far, to me it has been a waste of money.

Anything I hate is when you have a game that has no options and you can't turn the repetitive music off. But you have to have the sound on to hear the pronunciation. Got it in a bundle or I'd be refunding this garbage.
