The aestetics of the game is great! With surreal visuals which sometimes because of the limitations in lighting it feels ominous and creepy. This game dosen't do a lot of hand holding, so i spent most of the time playing trying to figure out where i am and where to go to progress. You should go find a detailed map or walkthrough before playing (Prefferably one without pictures as to not spoil the coming visuals). The bad part: Gameplay is slightly janky like alot of these point and click games. May have problems with compatability with newer computers and displays. Hints where to go or what to do are sparse and/or cryptic. Music could have been a bit more atmospheric. It feelt a bit "dry" to me. This was one of my first point and click games apart from some kids games i played in my childhood and it feelt rough. Go play the more popular games of the genre first before this one 6/10
A wonderful soundtrack consisting of a genuinely smart use of tracks taken from a music library that comes together with a decent point and click game. The Labyrinth of Time's best attributes are tied to its presentation and visuals but it's hampered with some obnoxious instances where the game can be rendered unwinnable, requiring the players to start over. It's a bit of a shame because, outside of that, the few puzzles in the game are generally intuitive and exploring the different types of labyrinth layouts while gaining access to new rooms is fun and exciting. Overall, I still give it a positive review as the atmospheric experience the game provides is remarkable despite its overall simplicity, but frankly, I think the music does a lot heavy lifting in terms of making the experience better.
I wanted to SMACK that giant laughing clown. Repetitive music, obtuse puzzles, and tedious gameplay with a lot of backtracking. I still vibed with it, though. Follow a walkthrough, put on some chill music of your own, and it's not a terrible way to spend a rainy afternoon.
The Labyrinth of Time is a beautiful but flawed relic of ‘90s point & click adventure design. There’s a lot to like here - the artwork is gorgeous, the locations are varied, the music is solid, and some of the puzzles are genuinely enjoyable. But it also falls into several classic pitfalls of the genre. The controls feel counterintuitive, the game loves throwing you into large, often empty mazes, and progression can become frustratingly unclear. It even allows you to get stuck without realizing it, which is never a great feeling in an adventure game. Inventory design is messy too, with too many items that seem to serve little or no purpose. Still, if you’re craving that old-school ‘90s adventure vibe and can grab it cheap, it’s worth a look. Just know there are better classics out there if you’re looking for the genre at its best. I like it, but I don't love it.
TBF this is an old game playing by the old rules .... but those old rules are b.s. This game is not hard to do, just hard to know what to do next! So, direction of the player is very VERY poor. It did not get good word of mouth, or reviews, because of this. So, why is it here, and improved? Because it is still a part of history and thus remembered. This is very early in CGI. It is a slide show with some animations. The coolest part is the beginning. It is a prologue and I really like what it does at the end as it starts the game. So, as long as you know that going in, it's worth it more for historical reasons. It has a nice atmosphere.
Totally surreal. I'd played the game for I have no mouth and I must scream, which is made by the same people, and I loved it (no matter how difficult it was for me). This game follows the same sort of gameplay and the same infuriatingly specific choices you would have to make to even pass through one maze. The graphics are terrible, but in the best way possible. What can you expect from a 1993 game anyways. In conclusion, I would recommend. It's a challenge, but pretty interesting, especially in terms of some of the lore.
