The King of Fighters XIV: Steam Edition marks SNK’s ambitious return to the classic 3-on-3 team fighting formula that defined the franchise for decades. As the fourteenth mainline entry in the legendary KOF series and its first leap into full 3D character models, this installment brings both bold changes and deep-rooted familiarity to the table. Released on Steam following its original console debut, the PC version offers a relatively polished and content-rich package that caters to long-time fans while also trying to welcome newcomers into its notoriously technical fighting ecosystem. The most immediate change in KOF XIV is its visual presentation. For the first time, the traditionally sprite-based series moves fully into 3D, and while the transition is functionally solid, the aesthetics received mixed reactions. Character models, especially at launch, were considered bland and lacking the stylistic flair of their 2D predecessors. However, post-release updates did improve shading and lighting, making the fighters more visually appealing. The stages are well-varied and often lively, and the fluid animations keep the pace of battle intact. It may not match the visual excellence of contemporaries like Guilty Gear or Street Fighter V in terms of polish, but KOF XIV maintains a clean, readable style that prioritizes gameplay clarity over flash. The core of KOF XIV lies in its refined fighting mechanics. The game sticks to the classic 3-on-3 elimination format—players select a team of three fighters and battle until one side loses all of their characters. The system demands not only individual character proficiency but also an understanding of team synergy, meter management, and momentum control. The movement remains fast and aggressive, with hops, hyper hops, rolls, and evasive techniques encouraging constant mobility. Combos are tight and technical, especially for legacy players looking to master longer strings and cancels. Yet at the same time, SNK introduced a more accessible combo system with the Rush mechanic, allowing newcomers to perform basic combos with repeated button presses. While some purists were skeptical, this feature ultimately made the game more approachable without watering down the advanced systems for competitive players. In terms of roster, KOF XIV is impressively stacked. With 50 characters available at launch—and several more added as DLC—it stands as one of the most generous base rosters in modern fighting games. Every returning favorite and new addition brings something unique to the table. Iconic veterans like Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, and Terry Bogard return with their signature playstyles intact, while newcomers such as Shun'ei, Kukri, and Sylvie Paula Paula inject fresh blood and experimental designs into the mix. The diversity in fighting styles—from traditional martial arts to psychics, grapplers, and supernatural brawlers—ensures that players can find a team that suits their preferences. Balancing such a massive roster is a challenge, but for the most part, KOF XIV manages to keep the competitive field relatively even, with a wide variety of characters viable at high levels of play. On the content side, KOF XIV offers a generous suite of modes. Story mode is presented in a traditional arcade ladder format with pre- and post-fight dialogue and an overarching narrative involving a mysterious new KOF tournament and its ominous organizer. While the storytelling is fairly basic and largely serves as an excuse to get characters to fight, it does offer interesting lore and some fan-service moments for series veterans. Beyond that, there’s training, versus, survival, and time attack, all of which are fairly standard but essential for a complete fighting game experience. The game also includes a solid tutorial mode that introduces core mechanics, although it still assumes some prior genre knowledge. Online play in the Steam Edition is a critical area for any modern fighter, and the results are a bit mixed. While SNK did implement rollback netcode in a later update to improve stability, online matches still heavily depend on player connection quality. Matchmaking is functional but not particularly advanced—lobbies work fine, but there’s a lack of robust filtering or ranking systems compared to more modern fighting game standards. However, for most casual and semi-competitive players, the online environment is serviceable, and regular community tournaments have kept the player base active even years after release. Performance-wise, the Steam Edition runs well on a wide range of PC hardware. Load times are short, frame rates are stable, and the graphical settings are customizable enough to support both high- and low-end machines. Keyboard controls are technically supported but, as with most traditional fighters, the game is best experienced with a gamepad or fight stick. There are very few bugs or crashes reported, and the Steam port is generally stable and reliable, which is especially important given SNK’s past reputation for inconsistent PC releases. Overall, The King of Fighters XIV: Steam Edition stands as a strong revival of a beloved fighting game franchise. While it doesn’t push the visual envelope and its initial aesthetic choices may not appeal to everyone, it compensates with fast-paced, skill-intensive gameplay, a deep and varied roster, and a robust set of game modes. The accessibility features help ease newer players into its complex systems, while veterans will find plenty of depth and challenge to keep them grinding in training mode or competing online. For fans of team-based fighters or the SNK legacy as a whole, this installment is not just a return to form—it's a substantial and content-rich fighting game that remains relevant years after its release. Rating: 8/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Estou cansada. KOF14...
▷평점 : ★★★☆☆ The King Of Fighters XIV 아주 유명한 격투 게임.
KOF. Melhor game que eu não sei jogar. Desde 1994
I've heard that the easy rush combos are to help new players but it just ruined the game for me , also we have even less story than in 13 , how did the series regress ? Its still kind of fun but overall the worst kof . 4/10
encueren a Mai y es GOTY
