great fighting game it is still solid in 2026. great music, and sound effects. overall great fun.
While I still enjoy this, and GREATLY enjoyed it waaaaay back in the day, playing it in 2026 shows me how it doesn't measure up to other SNK fighters as they evolved over time. It has a big roster that is exciting to play around with, and it certainly maintains the spirit of the SNK fighting universe, but other than owning it to own them all, this one has been eclipsed in greatness a dozen times over since its release. Still good, and it may play much better if you're working your way through these games in order of release.
It's like '98 but without Mature & Vice. Oh, and your MAX gauge stays after SDM.
This is a pure classic! This is the last game in the Orochi Saga! It also marks the debut of Shingo, Chris, Yashiro and Shermie! Also The King of Fighters got released for multiple platforms!
