Хорошая задумка сделать игру набором пазлов, не самых замысловатых, зато глючных. Такое себе удовольствие.

I didn't know joining a cult was this much work but I tried my best

2/10 Groucho Marx: “I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me as a member.” Me: “I wouldn't want to be an initiate to a cult that would put me through The Initiate as initiation.” If you're versed in ancient PC games, you might pick up The 7th Guest vibes: wandering a (less-haunted) puzzle house while an antagonistic voice equal parts roots for and against your success. Unlike that game's discrete logic puzzles, The Initiate relies on the connected fluidity of an escape room. The puzzles are fine. Too many missable, pixel-hunting items and overly straightforward data collection/direction following. But if it were IRL, it'd be a kick-ass escape room. The sound design is so bad it's a distraction. I'm 90% sure opening doors produces the exact AOL Instant Messenger "friend sign-on" MIDI. For those too young to know what that means, trust me, it was a sick burn. The plot is also terrible, but mercifully sparse and meaningless enough to ignore. But the worst part of an already bad experience is the bugs. Saving and restarting can cause previously found items to reappear as infinitely collectible duplicates. Worse still, even if you have the patience to bear The Initiate's shortcomings, you may, through no fault of your own, reach a broken game state that simply can't be completed. This is antithetical to the very philosophy of puzzle games. To have to refer to a walkthrough to discover that the item needed to progress literally doesn't exist is a frustration I wouldn't wish on my enemies. Except my worst enemies, who now are the developers of this game.
Very nice puzzle game, many different interesting puzzles and all of them not too easy, Nice that game don`t advice you too much. This type of games need to play without guides because with guide you are ruining your joy and game is not worth money. Without guides length is nice. Game is described "Horror" but i don`t feel horror 98% of the time so don`t wait scary game or any spooky things. I Got this discounted so i give 7/10. If you like brain/puzzle/escape room style of games worth a try.
The game is fun by itself, but what really shines is the hours of content you get when completing it and trying the ARG. Please try this, we need help!
awesome puzzle game. Tad bit creepy but no monsters and you can't die- my favorite kind of game lol. Voice acting was great. It looked great too. I turned the BGM off but it was okay for a bit. I didn't encounter any bugs and it played smoothly. If you like puzzle games you won't be disappointed.
Very good game. Not difficult puzzles. overall I enjoyed playing it. Recommend!
Al principio no me convencia. Pero la verdad q a medida q iba avanando los puzzles se volvian mejores. Me gusto bastante. Y la sorpresa cuando terminas el juego es algo sublime. La frutilla del postre. Realmente siento que estoy entrando a una secta de los enigmas..
No spoilers review: TL;DR: I give it a 3.5 out of 5. Good: Fun game for what it is. No jumpscares. Large area/room of puzzles. Atmosphere is great. Decent graphics and some nods to their other games. Puzzles range from pretty easy to medium. (assuming the game doesnt glitch and you think youre missing something, read below) Bad: Buggy still. I ran around for an hour trying to figure out the next part only to have to resort to a walk through which said to go do this one thing, except I couldnt because the door wouldnt open. Reloading fixed it, but reloading also resets some puzzles again. I wasted an hour thinking I was missing something. Only 1 side of a main cabinet wouldnt open, So i ran around again thinking I was missing something. Nope, was just glitched. Had to reload to get it open. One of the endings doesnt work. It plays the music but you're still stuck inside. Reloading doesnt fix this a new game does. Story: You never figure out what your memories are or why it even pertains to the story. I havent played the 2nd, maybe they explain it. But the story is non existent here.
