The Incident at Galley House

Absolutely fantastic detective game that requires good deductive skills. The story and the main mystery itself was a nice surprise, finding the explanation caused a big AHA moment where suddenly everything clicked and made sense.

Extremely solid puzzle mystery game. The gameplay with the machine is very novel and does a great job at making you want to learn everything you can about what happened at the house and its inhabitants. I've played the original so it's hard to judge this one fresh, but I'd say it did a fantastic job of updating it to a more "fully-fledged" game, with the voice acting, soundtrack and artwork making many story sequences hit a lot harder. A part of me prefers the simple and dry text adventure of Type Help, but The Incident at Galley House is a wonderful experience on its own for newcomers and returning players alike.

Do you love “& then there were none”? Coincidentally, I just watched a reimagining of the play recently and that spurred my decision to buy this game day one. My track record: I’m a huge sucker for these puzzle games (Return of the Obra Dinn / Rootrees are Dead / Lorelei & The Laser Eyes / Case of the Golden Idol ) I had not touch the original “Type Help” text-based game at all. But you know what’s the testament for how much I loved it? Whilst I was out on my workday, I couldn’t stop thinking about Galley House and started up “Type Help” to get me through my morbid curiosity. Those small ‘tests’ helped to solidify some of my theories and I rushed home to see the full scene in the Galley House. This is a game that needs you to be crystal clear on the order in which things happen and to latch on to conversational nuggets. It’s not hard and does lack a quantity of ‘a-ha’ moments. But the light bulb moments… they do shine bright. One of the biggest ones is a huge deviation from the original ‘Type Help’ so I still strongly recommend original players to come and try the remake!

Nice deduction game combined with both <The Return of Obra Dinn> and <The Roottrees are Dead>. Nice narrative tricks infused with super-nature power as well as its mechanics being used for deduction

I bought this to be nice, as a way of saying "thanks" for one of the best computer games I've ever played in my life. Then I fired it up, just because it feels weird to buy a game and not at least start it. Now I can't put it down. I was skeptical of the UI overhaul but it's perfect. It manages to keep all the good bits from the text version while adding in QOL improvements and fun new layers. And the story itself is such that it's actually really satisfying to replay, knowing everything you wind up knowing after the first time. In short, dang. Nice work everyone, hope this blows up like Roottrees.

C'è poco da dire di Evil Trout per ora non ne ha sbagliata una! Dopo "The Roottrees Are Dead" con questo secondo titolo ne escono ancora meglio se possibile, hanno portato ciò che di buono c'era nel loro gioco di debutto e l'hanno migliorato, levigato, smussato e pulito per farlo brillare ancora di più. Un gioco di quelli che scioglieranno le vostre celluline grigie, vi porteranno a ragionare come i vari "...The Golden Idol" o "Return of the Obra Dinn". L'unica pecca è la mancanza dell'italiano, MA, ci voleva un grosso MA, grazie ad una traduzione amatoriale adesso ne potete godere nella nostra lingua. A well-written mystery I througly enjoyed. Great characters. Anything more would be spoilers. Just play it.
