The Incident at Galley House

Similar to other logical deduction games like The Roottrees are Dead or Return of the Obra Dinn. The premise is really interesting and I'm looking forward to whatever Evil Trout Inc. works on next!

Great narrative puzzle that continues to slowly unfold as you play. Good voice acting too!

I really like the story, the atmosphere, uncovering the mysteries one scene at a time, and the twist is just so much worth the play. But, what really brought the experience down for me was just how clumsy it was to navigate the information what I already knew. There was no way to for example see multiple pieces of evidence at once, I had to remember a lot of things when going back and forth between screens. When navigating the timeline, there is no way to get back to previously visited scene, so if you need to quickly check something in another scene and cross-check them, you must find them again and again tediously. I cannot comfortably lock-in partly known pieces of story (like when I know a person was at a place at certain time, and I just need to find the other persons). Sure, I can put that into text notes, but that feels just cumbersome. Also, it was really hard to see the timeline at a glance. Like, knowing which locations and people are already assigned at each timestamp, or seeing what I know about a person or location by just hovering their portrait. Instead, I have to find the object of interest in a list, which leads to me losing the scene I was trying to investigate. It would have been wiser for me to just create a good ol' spreadsheet on side to keep track of everything. And I think it is just a shame when the game doesn't give you all the tools to enjoy the game and you need auxiliary software.

Really enjoyed The Incident at Galley House. It’s very much in the same vein as [i] The Roottrees Are Dead [/i] - piecing together clues, following leads and gradually working out what the hell is going on. I clearly have a weakness for games that essentially give me a pile of information and tell me to figure it out. Love piecing this stuff together.

Fun and intriguing story. The only real puzzle element is coming up with code combinations for the machine, so it plays more like a story game than a puzzle one (albeit a story where you must take notes). Nonetheless it's satisfying to deduce those combinations to unlock the next scene!

Great follow up game by the same dev as the Roottrees. While I personaly find Roottrees to be a better game, I'm not complaining for having two terific cakes.
