About

And it was never meant to wake up.
The Horror Occultist is a first-person psychological horror game focused on atmosphere, tension, and slow-burning dread.
Set in a forgotten forest consumed by darkness, you will explore the ruins of an abandoned monastery where an ancient force was once sealed — and later awakened.
This is not a game about constant action.
This is a game about fear that builds… and never leaves.

Deep within a remote forest lies a place erased from maps and memory.
An old monastery, long abandoned after a catastrophic event that no one fully understands.
Years ago, monks discovered something beneath the earth.
Not a ghost.
Not a demon.
Something far older.
They attempted to contain it using rituals, symbols, and faith.
They failed.

Time passed.
The place was forgotten.
Until a cult found it.
They didn’t try to stop what was buried beneath the ruins.
They came to awaken it.
The ritual went wrong.
The monastery collapsed.
The forest became something else.
And whatever was sealed below…
is no longer sleeping.

You arrive at the location long after everything has already gone wrong.
Or maybe… exactly when you were meant to.
The deeper you go, the more the world begins to change.
Shadows move where nothing should exist.
Sounds come from places that should be silent.
And sometimes…
you will see her.

🌲 Explore a cursed open environment
Traverse a dense, oppressive forest filled with secrets, hidden paths, and unseen threats.
⛪ Investigate the abandoned monastery
Discover ritual sites, forbidden symbols, and the remains of those who tried to stop what lies beneath.
🔒 Descend into the underground prison
A place built not to keep people inside… but to keep something from getting out.
📼 Piece together the story
Find fragments of the past through environmental storytelling, recordings, and disturbing visions.
👁️ Unique observation mechanics
Some entities cannot be perceived normally.
You must learn how to see… what does not want to be seen.
🕯️ Avoid the cult
Not all of them are gone.
And they are not on your side.
👻 Encounter supernatural entities
Including a ghostly presence that appears when you least expect it — and disappears when you try to understand it.
Psychological horror with a focus on immersion
Slow-paced exploration and tension-driven gameplay
Minimal UI for maximum immersion
Realistic lighting and dynamic sound design
Non-linear progression and hidden discoveries
Deep environmental storytelling
Persistent feeling of being watched
No hand-holding — you must figure things out yourself
The Horror Occultist does not rely on constant jumpscares.
Instead, it builds a constant sense of unease.
The kind that makes you stop…
listen…
and question what you just saw.
You are not here to uncover the truth.
You are here because
it wants you to see it.

DO NOT BUY THIS. It is the worst AI slop I have EVER seen in a video game. Usually it's just random bits of ART that is AI generated. But with THIS game , EVERYTHING is AI generated, and it is truly awful.
My passion for indie horror games has turned into a full-fledged obsession. I think I've gone too far... and the point of no return has already passed.
AI slop, awkward cutscenes that don't make sense and the first door you come across doesn't open. weird.
For the price of a sandwich I can't really complain too much. The game did give me a couple of jumpscares but the overall experience was short and broken. I could not open a cabin door despite moving all obstructions in front of it and that ultimately stopped me from progressing though the intended experience. The cut scenes were compiled with the help of Ai so they looked okay-ish but made little sense. All said and told I don't think anyone would be happy about spending more than 50 cents on this game. I paid something like 3$ and am ok with that, But I am pretty tolerant of games with "issues" given they have the right price point.
Schlechtes Spiel bockt überhaupt nicht, wenn das überhaupt ein Spiel sein soll sind ja nur KI generierte Videos.
A pretty decent horror game. Actually, it was creepily unpleasant at times, but the game is definitely worth its price. I recommend buying this game!
Kann die positiven Rezensionen überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen ... aus meiner Sicht lieblos aneinander gereihte KI-Videos, zusammengehalten von einer dysfunktionalen Spielwelt.
I think this is the best horror game for my money, I bought it at a discount. the atmosphere keeps you in suspense perfectly, it's scary enough, especially with the accompanying sounds and voice acting, super. I also want to note that riddles and puzzles are quite exciting to go through
A rather creepy mix of Outlast and Resident Evil can be recommended to horror fans, the frightening atmosphere is present and it’s not even always about jump scares
trash game all is AI fking BUGGGG
