This game is kinda good for a beta game. the game is in development and i wish to see more in the future. there are some suprising moments in the game that gives a good scare. This games idea is good. The game also has it downsides. There is only 2 guns. there is only one room where you have to stay. But it´s still in development and i wish to see more from this game in the future I recomend this game!
This is a great game to show off VR to friends. The goal and controls are pretty intuitive (i.e., survive) and the atmosphere is fantastic. It'a a great demonstration of how immersive VR games can be with good audio design. The devs seem committed to improving the game, and I definitely appreciate the option to disable sliding as it means this game is accessible even to people who have issues with motion sickness. This game is on my shortlist of "games I show people who haven't played VR to try to sell them on the concept" and I've had great response.
A solid start for an early access game! It’s scary, fun, and the atmosphere really pushes that vibe. Has some bugs, and glitches but nothing that’s not expected for an early access title. I really want to play the story mode, but I guess that will come in a future update. I just want more! I think adding a more indepth tutorial would be helpful. I didn't realize I could use my belt to attach guns to until a few minutes in. After I realized this I was zipping around and barricading doors like a madwoman! Would recommend for an early access game. Looking forward to the story mode!
This is a great concept of a nice arcade survival style VR. However it needs a lot of work. On the hardest setting the enemies were still easy and the wave of them respawning was very slow that being said there was no difficulty played. Putting the boards on the doors was very glitchy and after a couple times playing I noticed you dont even need to put them up due to the low respawn rate of the enemies. I had to change my graphics quality to medium in the game settings due to it crashing, even with my graphics card and processor being top line quality. What can really make this game worth the buck is having a reward system with its weapon choices. Start off with a bat, then after a couple kills is when you are given a better weapon, such as a pistol then to shotgun but take off the option of having 2 weapons at once since you have the nail gun for the boards and it will increase the suspense and skill to move around the cabin and boarding the doors. One more thing that might be interesting to add in is having to go to the table where piles of ammo will be at to reload your gun every time you run out in the clip. More enemies and variety of enemies to give you an unexpecting entrance such as Wolves, to Slow monsters to Crawling monsters then to Fast monsters. These are some ideas that I think can make a really great game, I gave it a thumbs up because I know this game can be something amazing and for NOW, its a calm quick fun feeling of being in a cabin alone and shooting at the monsters for anyone who's new to VR or just wants to chill and kill.
Well, I am here to redo my Review of the game as I promised to the 650 people who watched the original Review. I spent 2 hours playing a 30 minute 8$ game to fully understand everything. (Ps that's a good thing) But a lot of time has passed, and the developer contacted me asking me to re-look at the game, something no other developer has done for one of my 22 game reviews. I sadly though just moved and refunded this game after my first review so I couldn't redo it and YOU KNOW WHAT! THE DEVELOPER GAVE ME A FREE KEY TO HELP ME RE REVIEW THIS GAME! I honestly was BLOWN AWAY! Like, just doing this to show off his changes! For those who don't want to read my review NEW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSgIIrb7Dcs For those wanting to compare it with it's first release review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZYXddt4xGI&t=1s Problems: 1. Sound is harshly loud no option menu to change that 2. AI glitch out some times 3. You have to board for the first room or the creatures won't spawn and you can't move on 4. The Uzi was horrible to use even at a medium distance because of spray pattern. Bugs: 1. Top Of Rocks (Can't be attacked) 2. Edge of stairs (Can't be attacked) 3. Back Corner of map by generator (Can't be attacked) 4. Inside the Generators room (You can walk through walls, the AI can't so can't be attacked) 5. AI loose track in mid agro (Rare but happened to me in my 2 hour gameplay to really review the game.) 6. Barracked can go green and stop all creatures from going through it. 7. If you put a barracked piece up, you have to let the creatures destroy it before you can leave. Pros: 1. The game keeps you always on your toes for them to break in 2. You can just use the pistol and "Instant" reload and pistol warrior the creatures 3. You don't have to just stay in the house the whole time, you can venture out 4. The Developer CHANGED THIS GAME 200% FROM IT'S RELEASE This gmae is fun to play because of the feeling of fear and survival you run into. The creatures act like smarter zombies and I enjoy that. What I suggest: 1. Traps 2. More Creatures 3. More ways for them to break in 4. An AI that knows how to flank or not just take the simplest straight line path so you just keep gunning them down, have a few that try and run circles around you while getting closer. 5. Redo the strength of the Barracked, the damage done, the amount of guns you can use, and the amount of creatures that attack you.
Update 13 Sept 2018 The addition of smooth turning is a most welcome addition, Thank you. With smooth turning included, the base gameplay is much easier to manage (I don't get the cord wrapped around my feet nearly as much), and makes the ability to start enjoying what the game has to offer happen. The size of the shed I'm boarded up needs to be increased (once they break in, it is 'do or die', almost no chance of running, or the opportunity to fend them off), or allowing you to go outside without the monsters being on top of you very quickly. Having one of the monsters go into a Predator-type mode (slowly hunting you down) might be a fun idea for consideration. Smooth turning, however, seems to have some judder/stutter when I turn. Not enough to destroy gameplay, but enough to notice (and slightly break the immersion). The smooth turning addition is enough for me to start enjoying the game, and for that, I can now give the game a thumbs up. ========================================================== Original Review: A Call of Duty Zombie Mode Game with wanna-be Predators. If you ever played the COD Zombie on a smartphone (years ago), you've got a VR version of it here. The game, for myself, is by no means a mess, but I have a number of issues with it that hampers my enjoyment. Cons: - When first playing this game, I tried used the 360 degree form of playing. After only a couple of minutes, my Oculus cord was wrapped around my leg like a python, which forced me to constantly untangle myself. Thankfully, the developers recently provided 45 degree snap turning, eliminating the cable entanglement, but makes it very jarring for myself when using it to track the monsters (especially inside the building). Smooth turning, combined with 360 degree tracking would be the optimum solution for myself. - In the basement, there is a door that can be beaten open. I'm not sure what the reason for this type of door is, rather than to say 'here's one you don't hae to board up'. Why not have an option to weld the door, and if they bust it open, re-weld it shut? - Having a melee weapon should be considered. Having both guns empty with aliens in front of you means: drop one gun, reload the other, and try not to die while doing so. Having a melee weapon, or the ability to push them back, would make it feel like I have a better chance of making it through. - On occassion, trying to pick up a board has me instead reaching for a gun or ammo. I usually have to physically turn to pick up a board to avoid this problem. - When going downstairs to close the door, I can either walk down the stairs or jump down form the other side (and receive no damage). - While I'm getting killed around the 3rd alien or so, the building itself seems rather small. Maybe I just need to get further into the game, but the play area (assuming the objective is to remain boarded inside the building) is very restrictive. Pros: - Captures the overall feeling of COD: Zombies. - The graphics have a simplistic feel to them, which is okay, and keep me focused on the gameplay (which is overall fun, despite my gripes). The game does have potential, and you could do worse for 5 bucks, but until the gameplay and controls gets better smoothed out, I would approach with caution.
Will update as new improvements come to main branch. First of all the devs of this game are very open to suggestions on Discord. If you have issues just hit them up and they will try to get a fix put into the game. This game is still in early access. This is a great wave game where you have to board up and defend your own little hut. Weird alien things come and rip down your boards to try to get to you and eat your heart! Game reminds me of COD Zombie mode. Does well: AI pathing works well, Alien zombie (zombiens?) things go straight to the doors and rip down boards then search hut for you. Boarding up doorways is as easy as placing where you want it (will show green for good to release or red for bad placement) Guns are reliable and have no issues reloading or aiming (devs fixed aiming being off) Music subsides when wave is over and most of time guy on radio tells you when more Zombiens are coming your way. Snap Turning - Recent update added in snap turning (Thanks!) Can be Improved: Multiplayer - Just like COD zombies more people means you can get farther easier (Devs have this on their radar) MOAR Guns - Added variety of weapons (devs have this on their radar) Will update post as testing new updates continues...
I love barricading myself in and then fighting to the death! It's a great time and it looks like there's still a lot more to come. The devs take community feedback seriously on their discord, and always listen to what people have to say. Definitely recommend The Homestead Invasion.
Good Game
A tense and spooky wave-defense shooter executed well in VR. Having to rebuild defenses manually in VR on the fly adds an extra fun layer of dread. Looking forward to future releases and maps!
