This is the best VN I have ever played. The story and characters are incredibly well written and very engaging. I could not recommend The Hayseed Knight more. I will be excitedly waiting for a sequel.

Absolutely amazing game! First of all the art is stunning, from the painterly backgrounds to the gorgeous character designs, and even the little things like the "hand sketched journal" look of the game's encyclopedia are given the same level of attention. The art direction also deserves specific mention, as it is well-informed and well-researched to avoid many classic "desert culture" stereotypes while showcasing its Al-Andalus inspirations lovingly and proudly. This also ties into the music, providing a unique and beautiful sound that does an excellent job of setting up every scene. Whether light and fun for the comedic effect, tense and dramatic during the emotional peaks, or quiet and thoughtful for the more somber and intimate moments, each track is a treat. All of this is built on an incredible foundation of good writing, brought to life by a top-notch cast of voice actors. The world building is rich without being overly complicated and the characters are all well-rounded and complex, with dialog and interactions that weave together into an engrossing story so completely that none of them feel unimportant. And a seemingly minor thing, but it's a pleasant surprise that so much consideration has been made in terms of accessibility. Translated into multiple languages, subtitle size, text speed, and auto-forward options mean that even more people will have the chance to play this gem. All in all, the level of craft on display here is incredible. If you love visual novels I'm sure you'll love this one, and if you're normally not a fan I think this one will change your mind!

Clever writing, fun and well-written characters, plenty of lore, gorgeous art and music, and a lot of charm. Pretty much everything you could ask for in a visual novel and absolutely worth checking out.

This is one of the better Visual Novels i have played. I highly recommend this to anyone to play. The characters all have depth and personality to them that i love. If a sequel ever comes out, I am immediately getting it.

This is the first time I write a review for a game and just as a disclamer, I worked in this videogame as a translator and doing historical consultancy. The dev and I are friends, but I bought my copy of The Hayseed Knight. The Hayseed Knight is one of my favorite visual novels and one that I continous think about it. It is a work of art into which Maxi has poured his heart and soul and you can see it in every part of this game. The art is gorgeous and evocative, the worldbuilding is so creative and based on my favorite period of history, al-Andalus or medival muslim Iberia, the characters are so memorable and interesting and the voice acting is fenomenal and so well directed. I can't get too much in the story without saying any spoilers, but it is fun, dramatic and full of hope. I can't recommend this game enough; you'll want to complete the game in one sitting and start all over again.

Visual novel inusual, con un doblaje fantástico, una traducción al español (¿o idioma original ya que el autor es español?) AÚN MEJOR, con muchos chascarrillos y expresiones de aquí. Un arte muy cuidado, una música sorprendentemente molona y una historia romanticona con mucha aventura. No es la típica visual novel, tiene alguna parte fuera de lo normal (hay una parte en la que hay que descubrir la historia de manera 'no lineal') y se nota un poco que se ha ido publicando la historia 'por capítulos' pero tiene muchas cosas interesantes que lo hacen destacar. Para estar hecha por una persona, es súper entrañable, los personajes son muy carismáticos y entretiene muchísimo.

I really enjoyed it. The narrative and characters are fun and well realized, and I appreciated how the story shook up its framing and structure over the chapters. Lots of little things too - on fast forward especially you will notice how many subtle movements happen with the character images to help bring movement and energy to life. If you're on the fence, I'd really recommend giving it a go - I'm very much glad I did!
