Rip through hostile alien worlds, harvest mutant body parts mid-combat, and adapt faster than your enemies. Every alien you harvest gives you new body parts with unique powers, like triple-jump legs, turret-dropping torsos, grenade-launching turkey heads. Steal, swap, survive.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

About

You are Squishy, a shape-shifting operative of Rangus Corp. Adapt to your enemies and outmaneuver them by stealing heads, torsos, and legs – each equipped with a unique power-- creating thousands of possible strategic combos. This unique mechanic makes you harder to kill and your gameplay more strategic, no matter what enemy you encounter.
Survive your runs alone or recruit up to three friends to destroy aliens and swap their meat alongside you. With dynamically scaling difficulty, the game gets harder when players join and easier when they leave.
If you’ve ever threatened to break someone’s arm and beat them with it, well, this is that mechanic in action, and the game for you. Every limb and extremity you equip changes your strategy instantly. Rapid adaptation is your key to success. For example, equip Squat Daddy legs to jump and butt-slam enemies, or an Octo Swirl head that shoots in all directions! This upgrade path is unique to SWAPMEAT: evolving strategically mid-combat, stealing abilities and turning them against your enemies. Muahahaha.
SWAPMEAT forces improvisation in a fresh new way: you work with what drops and learn to thrive in unpredictability, while under constant siege by alien weirdos.
Waves of screwball enemies threaten to overwhelm you, but every weapon can be stolen for yourself. Dodge, shoot, and swap your way through escalating chaos while racing against time to complete objectives.
Risk of Rain 2 and co-op shooters like Helldivers 2 inspired our developers, but the speed of core combat harks back to some of our favorite games, such as Quake 3, Serious Sam, and Overwatch. Hark!
Each mission throws new enemies, random events, and unexpected part combinations at you. No two runs are ever the same. Every death teaches you something new.
Bring your research back to HQ and cash it in for weapon unlocks, new perks, and company-approved improvements. Over time, you get more powerful between runs.
Drop into random and bizarre planets, from an urban speedway thick with hungry mutant speedsters to a planetary cookout overrun by hostile aliens. Battle across wackadoodle, vivid landscapes strewn with the ruins of galactic capitalism, ancient tech, and '90's references.
SWAPMEAT offers four different difficulty levels, from Casual to Nightmare.

Reluctantly giving this a negative review. The game has a ton of potential, its just very short and I feel like the replay loop is nowhere near as good as it needs to be. A handful of worlds and only 3 bosses. Unlike some roguelikes where each run is vastly different Swapmeat more or less each run feels the same. As you choose your 2 weapons (but really end up using one), you cycle through parts often enough that they dont feel like a real part of your build, and the upgrades and items more or less do the same things. Id also argue that the gimmick (meat part swapping) isnt as well used as it should be. Youre often swapping just to regain defense, and not for any other reason. Some parts are definitely better than others, and some are bad, but generally your weapons and their upgrades matter a lot more than your parts. The game also is weirdly easy. You can beat it on the hardest difficulty in a couple of hours. You dont need talent tree perks. Dont get me wrong, this game is perfectly 'okay' and at $9 it is worth it just to play a couple runs, but if it had twice the worlds and bosses, and reworked some stuff it would go from okay to highly recommended. It simply needs more time to cook.

SWAPMEAT is a good time with friends. It's sorta like Risk of Rain 2 meets Helldivers with a wacky and chaotic aesthetic that I wanna compare to Earthworm Jim. The bright colors and chipper music keeps the experience feeling light and fun. Stakes never feel too high, you're just cruisin around meaty planets with your buds and blowing stuff up. That said there's a ton to do. Lots of upgrades to grind out, giving you lots of reasons to keep coming back to earn more and get more powerful. Assuming I can get my friends in, I'd put this game on my regular rotation for casual Friday night fun. Definitely recommended, especially if you want some silly action with buddies.
Way too overstimulating with way too much stuff going on on screen with very little explanation or direction. I've seen a lot of comparisons to Risk of Rain but the gameplay loop is worse, the progression is drip-fed to the player and the soundtrack is very mediocre. Also I will say the like... hip young "meme" language throughout the game is giving me Borderlands 3 dialogue in terms of how cringey some of it is.
♥♥♥♥ is like beatin your meat with a fever
Good fun, excellent art direction, and strikes a tone that Borderlands wishes it could. The movement is probably the best thing about the game mechanically. Finding a meat combo that serves your playstyle is oh-so-nice.

Really fun roguelite with great progression and enjoyable co-op. It’s easy to jump in and play a round or two, but there’s enough depth to keep you coming back for more. Also works great on macOS with an Xbox controller. Highly recommended!
This feels more fun to play than RoR 2, but this in no way is a 1.0 release. It's an Early Access game with Early Access game issues. The sound is awful, is too loud and cacophonous with the default settings (and it can still somehow stay loud at 10% volume, with some sounds becoming way too quiet, and some bursting your eardrums). And yet you are supposed to use sound to identify and deal with specific threats. The performance is unstable. There is nothing in this game that should be tanking a modern 3090-based rig to below 60, let alone below 30 FPS, and yet it does, at least a few times per level. The balance is weird. The maps are pretty huge while your basic movement speed is pretty slow. You are on a timer though, so if you aren't moving quickly, you aren't doing much in time. But there are so many cool 'meats' that don't add mobility, and it just feels sub-optimal to be using them. The progression is unnecessarily grindy. I get that it's supposed to keep me hooked and extend the replay-ability, but it just starts feeling like an annoying chore way too soon. Bosses are just boring damage sponges. They could have had two times less health and nothing of value would have been lost. I would personally like an 'auto-fire' option in the settings. With how many enemies the game is throwing at you (especially in co-op), there are very few moments when I don't want to be firing my gun, since the ammo is unlimited and the reload mini-game is actually pretty fun to do (and buffs your damage if you got the right upgrades). Holding the left mouse button down for long periods of time is uncomfortable and painful, so I don't see why this couldn't be an option. All in all, a bit too pricey for what is essentially a mislabeled early access playtest.
