Bardic: Quest for Love

This game has such charm and so much work put into it! I cant wait to see where this game and this developer goes! The characters are cute and well rounded, the OST slaps and the art invokes heavy Scott Pilgrim vibes. 10/10

Bardic: Quest for Love is a very charming game visually, the graphics are so dang cute to look at and most if not all the characters are just oozing with charisma! Each of the 12 employees are all distinct and wonderful to learn about, as someone who played the demo quite a bit. I will say that the game can be a bit rough around the edges, a few typos here and there and the like, but knowing the team behind it, I know for damn sure they put their heart and soul into this beautiful game, so I can easily look past it! The tavern gameplay between story beats is honestly a neat surprise! Its surprisingly simple but also quite strategic, though a tutorial is needed, as the first run around I was kind of confused on how things worked. To make a long story short, Bardic has amazing characters that I will soon not forget, and while gameplay that ties it together could have a smoother start, does help tie the whole package together!

You need to meet the locals, hire employees for your tavern and earn gold in a mini-game reminiscent of turn-based battles in JRPG games. A mini-game is included between VN cutscenes. You choose four heroes and 4 skills for each of them. To earn gold you need to serve several waves of visitors. Each character has 2 action points, which can be used to move and attack. You place heroes on special squares of the field on the sides of the table (moving costs 1 action point), and then you can attack the visitor who sits at this table. To attack you need to select a skill, and if the hero has enough action points, he will inflict damage on the visitor. To complete a turn/start a new wave, press skip turn. + Unique visual style. + Partial voice acting. + Humor and romance. + 2 main characters : Edmond/Edna + 12 cute characters. + Fascinating story in the form of a visual novel. + Tactical mini-game reminiscent of JRPG battles. - There are bugs.

It is a very cute concept. But it is still extremely buggy. I'd hold off buying it.

I tried the demo for it and it had some bugs: The convos would freeze and I became stuck, causing me to reload the game. Thankfully I could skip it in the paid game, but that meant I missed the introductions. The gameplay when you open the tavern wasn't easy to figure out and made me believe it was bugged again, especially since there's no fullscreen. When I tried to have convos with characters it was a 90% chance the game would freeze, and once reloaded the convo would be different, and if I went outside to see the world the convos I could have would usually work but then the convo I could have would be one intended for the tavern. I wanted to likee this game cause its clear a lot of love went into it, and I was excited to learn about the characters but it quickly became frustrating :(

I made this game! Bardic Quest for Love is definitely a heartfelt game with a lot of personality and charm. It's primarily a visual novel dating sim, but there are choices with dice elements, a walking around RPG-esc aspect, a Tavern Management Sim Minigame, and partial voice acting! It's super wholesome and super funny, and although its a little handmade in quality in some areas, it's definitely a small treasure of a game I really enjoyed playing (and playing, and replaying).

A game that's totally adorable, has multiple dating options, AND carries a DND theme? Absolutely! Bardic is not only a fun adventure game, it's sweet, adorable, and absolutely filled with hilarious moments! The entire development team did an amazing job putting this together! If you're a fan of cute games, indie games, dating games, adventure games, or just games that have a unique play style and storyline, then Bardic: Quest for Love Is just the game for you!

All in all, it's been a pretty solid experience playing through the game. The character cast is pretty robust, and you start to see differences between everyone's own little quirks. Each of the scenes highlight different character dynamics, which helps bring a lot of life to the scenes, especially with the voice acting. Surprisingly enough, Tavern Sim management was legit fun, especially setting up all the combos. I did come across some quirks with how the game calculates values such as gold or relationship stats, but that comes with the territory. TLDR: Lark is GOAT.

I held off on writing a review on this one, but after bouncing off of it a few times now I just gotta say my piece. I think the art style and overall subject matter of the game is adorable and cute and has legs. The voice acting is genuinely pretty good and fun and fresh. That's all very, very good. The bad is the game is pretty buggy still - I had two crashes and a few times where the next dialogue box just would not go. And while the voice acting is good, the singing is... not so much. I can't sing myself, so no shade there, but in a game with musical numbers and about bards this really stands out and puts quite the damper on the experience. I think there is a gem here, through the rough. I think it's probably worth experiencing and I think the team behind it is wonderful and passionate. But in the binary option of "Do you recommend this game?" I have to say "no"- BUT, I still think it has charm and should be experienced. (As for my low playtime, I'm not sure what gives there. I played some on my laptop that doesn't seem to have registered? It should say about 3.5/4 hours).

This game had me giggling out loud at the cute dialogue, and struggling to decide who I wanted to talk to! Junia and Abigail best girls. The VAs did great work and everyone put so much love into this ❤❤ adorable
