The Hand of Merlin executes well on it's turn-based strategy gameplay and I think it succeeds in being engaging, but not cumbersome, despite it's longer runs compared to most roguelike games. For a more in depth review, check out my video below! https://youtu.be/XO-ZjPTeXUQ
Nice turn based game, very fast paced, with little story/choices elements throughout. Values the player agency which I love. Slight gripe that sometimes enemies are hard to see behind player models or overgrowth, and no camera rotation that I could see, Very engaging though at a good price point.

In a sea of games in the genre, this game needs a hand.
This gets a thumbs down for one reason only. Meta-Progression. In this kind of games you expect to unlock stuff with each run, so you feel progress, even if you get screwed and dont finish a playthrough. In this you dont, either you do verry specific things, which you dont get to know beforehand unless you look it up, or you wont unlock anything new. Basicly making you having the same run over and over and over again. Apart from Inculinati, which I just cant enjoy because of the artstyle, this is the rogue-like that I have the least hours in. There must be dozens if not more in StS and Griftlands alone, hundreds if not thousand when combining all my rogue-likes. This just doesn`t do it for me.
It's not a bad game. But I also don't think it's worth it, there are better games like this. It feels a little unfinished, good for the first few runs but really lacking somewhere I can't quite put my finger on. Also, the code for the line renderer being wrong for the line trail on the volley attack bothers me <_< Like I said, I enjoyed playing but it just feels quite unpolished and a little bit shallow.
I really want to give this a game a thumbs up. It has a good story line and repeatable quest line. Turn based combat is not difficult. Graphics are okay the lack of a rotating camera on the battle field is a real set back. The game hangs and will not exit on its own you have to force steam to stop the program which seems like such a fundamental flaw. Wait for it to bottom out on sale.
Ну такое, скучно и грустно.
Zero depth, bare-bones trash that artificially forces you to re-run it over and over, disguising it as story/content. Do not waste your time on it.
Heavily underrated game, I enjoy the depth in the tactical combat a lot and the soundtrack from Old Sorcery is a masterpiece.
This is a pretty good combination of roguelike and a strategy game. The plot is pretty good too. Not sure it would be great over a lot of replays but is worth getting for a couple playthroughs at least.
