This game is a great game if you love platforming, collectathon, problem solving, a challenge, hidden secrets and games a la Megaman. It's a game full of heart with devs that are open to constructive criticism (if it fits the story or the game). A world full of charming characters that get you to a feeling of whimsy and magic, but with an underlying message of acceptance. Et c'est en français aussi! So if you are down to play a game where heart and fun is at the center of it, you are welcomed to buy it.
Very fun and well-made platformer. It never gets incredibly difficult but there's some solid challenges, even more so if you decide to dig deeper and go for everything; but it remains easily approachable throughout. Even if you're having trouble, most of the checkpoints are quite forgiving. The titular glitch mechanic is quite interesting as well, turning each enemy into a potential opportunity. Balanced by the fact that glitching is both a semi-limited, though easily refillable, resource, and the fact that glitching the wrong enemy in the wrong place just might make things more difficult. In either case, the game has a reset button you can use to restart a room at any point, which makes experimenting with glitches a relatively painless process. The story is great too, nice and light and fun on one level, though not without interesting depth. If you really want to get into it though, you can quickjly get to "red string and corkboard" territory. Also the art and character design is great. Love the hats. Also there's a demo, which is always a plus from me, and check it out if you're on the fence.
Great game! Full of little hidden goodies that make you feel very satisfied every time you discover one. Truly an inspired project.
A fresh adventure that reminds me of my childhood playing Run and Gun games on the Snes, firm and responsive controls, also has a lot of Replay for the levels, can you find all the secrets, definitely a fun experience, also I could play it on an old notebook, some secrets remind me of DKC2, finally the music is somewhat catchy, finally, if you have an intermediate level in English, you can understand a lot of dialogues of the game.
Very fun gameplay and a great deal of content.
An absolutely fantastic game that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the kerby and megaman games with the touhou artstyle. A fun story unfolds as you are teased with lore information in old memories and cute interactions with the many different characters you will find in the game! Don’t let the artstyle fool you though this is not an easy game as you progress more mechanics are introduced and your understanding will evolve.
I had quite some fun on this game, even though it took me a while to beat at 100%! The dash is perfect for speedrunning some sections on the levels, and the difficulty ramps up in a natural way. There’s even hidden lore in some levels if you take your time to stop and get some rest on some libraries, which is a nice touch. The art’s very adorable, and the characters all stand out in their own way. Plus, the boss fights have great attack patterns that you can beat in your first go if you're familiar with other games such as Megaman X. Overall, I think that this game stands out on its own, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfy yet challenging platform game!
In the first fifteen seconds, you'll think this is a cutsie kiddie game. Give it a minute, and the facade cracks. This is a "Don't judge a book by it's cover" game. The controls are very nice, and there is surprising depth to the villains. The only problem I'd say it has is that to get all the story, you have to beat the boss rush, and that's kind of hard.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, there's a surprising amount of lore in this game, and despite that, it only reinforces the core themes and ideas of the game as opposed to tearing it down. There's also a surprising amount of content. Story Mode is best if you're bad at 2D platformers. I couldn't afford anything in the shops from level 1 to the "final" boss.
Games really good... You want more info? Okay! I first heard about this game from one of my friends, who adores the game to bits, they are even a contributor to the 2nd artbook they love the game so much, so I saw it on sale and thought, "Hey, why not give the game a go" and it was one of my best purchases on Steam in recent memory. The Glitch Fairy follows the journey of a Fairy named Monie, who has to fight off the Princess of Spelanie who is trying to absorb sugar town into her Kingdom. After getting her flight power stolen, she falls off a cliff and upon awakening she has the power to bend reality and give herself new powers by using it on enemies she encounters on her journey. The game has so much love and care crafted into it's lore and world building with plenty of optional dialogue available for those who want to truly immerse themselves into the world of the game, some NPC's are purely exposition machines as well as numerous tomes in certain levels and even random signposts in levels will give you some more hints to things to come later. The gameplay itself is of an action platformer that offers lots of secrets and optional speed run challenges that for the most part contribute to your end of stage grade (From Bronze Star to Platinum Star) which can all be tackled on multiple runs to raise it, not having to do everything in one fell swoop which encourages repeat playthroughs of stages to find what you may have missed to get that lovely platinum star. The visual style may not be to everyone's liking, after looking through the artbook you can see how the developers struggled to make the game look the best it can be, whilst making the animations run smoothly, the character designs got reworked to a more simple art style the final game finished on, but it takes nothing away from the game and if you can look past it, it will provide you with plenty of wonderful experiences. It having some inspiration by Touhou, the boss fights and challenge stages are designed to test how well you get to grips with the games controls, not overly difficult and any stages and bosses I did have some difficulty on were not to a frustrating degree, it just encouraged me to take a little more time and learn boss patterns to overcome, it was very satisfying when I finally toppled the boss or challenge stages. But the game also has a story mode for those who want to truly enjoy the games world and lore (Although I didn't play that difficulty as I wanted to challenge myself as well) In summary, The Glitch Fairy is a very well put together game that really shows how much love and passion the devs had for this game, with plenty of lore and world building, a game that is challenging but not frustratingly so and offers an easier difficulty if it gets to that point. I would highly recommend this game, even at full price.
