This game is a retro-style 2D side-scrolling shooting game. Easy one-button operation. It is expressed with graphics and sounds (MSX) typical of the Japanese 80's. The overall structure is psychedelic and crazy, but that's the kind of game it is, so don't worry about it.

About
It's a pseudo-retro 2D side-scrolling shooter with a variety of gameplay in 8 stages, with visuals (TMS9918A spec V9938 palette) and sound (PSG+SCC) enhanced to mimic the MSX standard popular in Japan in the 1980s. Formerly released for smartphones in 2014 and then passed through Steam Greenlight, the release was delayed for about 10 years due to the production company's busy schedule (Final Re:Quest The Movie). The overall volume of the game has been increased to compensate for this. The controls are very simple and familiar. The player controls a cute little girl with dots, and defeats various enemies with a series of automatic shots. The game is inspired by good old Japanese culture, Gunma's nature and customs, in the 80's style, and the ending may change some by discovering various hidden items in the stage. We aimed to create a simple and kitschy shooting game before the bullet-hell shooters. We hope you will enjoy this game if you are tired of complicated modern games.
For those of you who want a more detailed description, let me add an even more special description! There are a generous 5 aircraft, 2 barriers to withstand enemy bullets, and 5 continues available! Basically, there are 8 stages in total, but there are 3 hidden stages. It may seem like an easy game, but the conditions for the appearance of the third stage are so strict that an ordinary person will not be able to clear it. The only method of attack is shot. There are no soft elements such as bombers. What's more, there are no saves and no achievements. Aren't you tired of competing for watered-down achievements by now? Rest assured that this game does not have them from the start.

Weird and captivating. From an era where PCs didn't had the horsepower and hardware to show smooth sprites and scrolling backgrounds, developers needed to do lots of tricks and programming to convey a functional and fun game at the same time. This game celebrates that era that while I didn't lived myself it still feels in some way nostalgic but also new and interesting. The art direction, music and color palette bring that jank and style that only could happen because the limitations of the hardware and creativity. I can recommend it only if you are really interested in early PC gaming and shooting games, but if you give it the chance you will see a lot of brilliant ideas. It isn't perfect and a lot of time there's too much on screen that I get hit after hit but playing again and again can help to memorize the stages although probably because the nature of the game this very issue won't be fixed, after all it's all about embracingthe jankiness.
This game is a psychedelic blast of a horizontal shmup. I can't read Japanese, but the stuff I can read in English is entertaining and funny. I like how she lets out a depressed sigh when you decide not to continue the game. There are a lot of clever enemies and bosses. Descriptions of the enemies appear in the top right corner while you're playing to add to the lore. Right now I'm getting through the first four levels and still have more to go. It's not as easy as it looks. Whether you're looking for something chill and goofy, or for a real challenge, I think you will like Girl from Gunma Kai.

Ultimate
Originally I invested in this last year at debut, this is a uniquely interesting and original nostalgic homage to the flair of early 80s shmups like Star Jacker (SEGA) and Xevious (Namco) ect with more contemporary productions of similar aesthetics such as XeGrader, but with a colourful scrolling perspective and an SG-1000 and MSX style aesthetic built from the TMS9918A spec and V9938 palette with PSG and SCC style sound chips, with some Asian and Japanese inspired cultural elements, such as Daruma - the Japanese name for the popular Indian monk Bodhidharma, widely credited as imparting Chan and Zen Buddhism, as well as the 18 stances that evolved into the basis of Kung Fu forms at the Shaolin temple. The Daruma doll is a prominent fixture in Japan, and is featured frequently here. Much as Big Pole's Adventure satirises the 8-Bit platformer style, The Girl From Gunma is a loving tribute to the shmup genre of the era. The MSX (parodied as 'DSX' here, a pun/riff of the MSX brand moniker) was another 8-Bit system that arrived subsequent to the SG-1000 (proto-Master System) which it shares the popular Zilog Z80 microprocessor in common with. It remains faithful to the technological quirks of the era to the point of retaining the sprite borders of especially large objects for style that once were a common result of getting around the sprite-per-line limits. Originally it began life as a smart phone application in 2014, so this latest definitive edition marks its Steam debut. Rather than opting for a standard typical bullet-hell mechanic, it's more akin to a 'pre-bullet-hell' affair, opting instead for a more straight forward kitschy charm and purity of play, fairly approachable and straight to the point, shunning the need for such contemporary conveniences of save-states and achievement records of accolades. If the cover art is reminiscent of SEGAGAGA, the meta RPG cult classic on the Sega Dreamcast, this is because it is from the same director and designer, as well as for Astro Boy: Omega Force, Thunder Force VI at SEGA and Gunstar Super Heroes, Rail Chase 2 and Dirt Devils etc. The Gunma reference is of a Kanto prefecture, popularised in anime by P.A. Works Nanare Hananare, set in the heart of Gunma, written and directed by the BangG Dream! franchise director Kodai Kakimoto in collaboration with Tomomi Takeda (Komada - A Whisky family). Some may find the animated HUD display along with the marquee as a distraction, though these are always optional and can be toggled off and on again in the options, along with a more precise D (direction) pad control configuration for purists over the looser analogue input.
简介
《THE GIRL FROM GUNMA Kai
i like the game. i hope gunma prefecture is accurately depicted the game does not detect my controller's directional inputs when it is in 'dpad' mode, and i have to set it to analog. please make the game recognize dpad mode. please add the ability to configure and rebind controls. using 'A and B' on akecon may not feel natural. right now, when the game asks 'continue > yes no', my controller does not register the directionals and i have to use arrow keys. the game is still good despite these issues. of course, none of these would be a concern on MSX
