Some of the greater insecurities of almost every human being are tested in this minimal yet intense game.

THE GAP is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, THE GAP is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. This pretentious nonsense is a small MS-Paint tier cartoon about a gap. Seriously. It's like a little pointless cartoon. This might as well have been a Youtube video. Ugh. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art better, it's just making gaming worse. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". This has misleadingly been launched in the "Games" section of Steam instead of the "Software" section. This is a common mistake for developers who are new to Steam, or don't understand the difference between games and software which isn't a game. It seems this software published incorrectly as a game is simply lack of experience/knowledge of the correct process. Here's a link for the process to publish non-game software on Steam: Steam Developer Help With Software Publishing It's unfortunate this process was not known about/followed, resulting in a non-game "art experience" being published in the wrong place. Publishing things which aren't games on Steam in the Games section as games is misleading to gamers and somewhat harmful, because it pollutes the Steam marketplace and takes away visibility and market exposure for genuine game developers who do the right thing and make games for gamers. There are no gameplay loops in this rejected art school dropout exhibition, no "gameplay", no meaningful game like interaction. As such, this has no merit as a video game for gamers, and so I cannot recommend this non-game as a game to gamers. Note: Joke reviews As usual, with some of the worst games on Steam, all the comedians come out of the woodwork. The vast majority of the reviews for this game are joke reviews, mocking the game for just how bad it is. The comedians give us the usual "this game cured my cancer, saved my marriage, changed my life" story... sarcastic, but not useful if you want to know if the game is worth it. Because most of the reviews are as insincere as the game itself is, the positive review score for this game should be disregarded.

This game changed my life. The Gap has brought me joy, sadness, anger, and understanding. It has led me to a holy discovery of truth and self-worth. It has changed the way I see my life, changed the way I live my life, and changed the way I think. The Gap is love, The Gap is life, The Gap is truth.
As far as I can tell you can go left, right, jump, and click both mouse buttons. I fixed my tie then it became a Waiting for Godot simulator.
Bir Boşluk hakkında soyut, etkileşimli bir deneyim. Çerezlik.
完全搞不懂这是个什么东西,控制是左右走路,空格翻跟斗,左键打招呼右键提公文包。开始后向左走整理领带,然后就做什么都没用了,根本搞不懂是在干嘛
I don't think the effect this game has caused on me can be understated. I lived, I laughed and I occasionally waved at the anthropomorphic shapes across The Gap™ until my heart's contempt. This minimalistic yet so profound indie title has single-handedly changed my relationship with videogames and I don't think I can undersell the effect it had on my gamer journey. It has retroactively improved upon my enjoyment of older games, forcing me to appreciate the experiences I've previously taken for granted whilst shifting my priorities on what I'm looking for in newer titles. I may never forget nor forgive the work of this developer, for they know best of all that I grew through the struggle to see a bright world full of possibilities unfold before me with my newly found perspective. Thank you The Gap™, very cool. P.S. I absolutely adooored the Godfather 2 reference that came a few moments before the true ending!
yes
Supposedly you can cross the gap. If I ever figure out how, I'll change my review. No spoilers ::)
