The Fox in the Forest

I wanted to love this--and I do love the card game--but the constantly moving background is distracting, and after a while, causes motion sickness-like symptoms. There's no way to turn off the background movement, and it's truly constant, since it moves around as you move the mouse across the screen to play the game. Would be great if they added a setting to turn this off.

This is a faithful adaptation of the trick-taking card game that debuted back in 2018. It's a fairly simple game with some twists tossed in. While it follows the standard trick-taking formula (trump card, trick taking, etc.), the game is given some spice with two conceits (since it's a 2 player game): 1) The odd numbered cards grant the player certain powers. For example, the "1" card states that even if the player loses the trick, they still get to control the next play. 2) If the player fails to win three tricks in a round, THEY get the 6 score and the other player loses. That gives a new "shoot the moon" danger, if one player dominates the other. As for the adaptation itself, it's colorful and beautifully drawn and animated. There is also a solo campaign for the player, in addition to the standard Vs. AI and Vs. Human options in the game. If you want a quick, enjoyable trick taking game, this is one of the best that's off the beaten path from Hearts, Spades and so on.

A 2 player trick taking card game with the odd numbered cards having powers. That alone is worth a thumbs up, not to mention that it's a nice interface. Plays quick making it a nice little time waster. A good card game to grab if your'e tired of the dozens of deck builders.

The artwork and music of this game are so good!!! Also, it is one of the best 2 - player game I've ever played! The rules are simple but there are some strategies needed as well. While it is a great game to play with a friend, I wish there are more players joining the game so the online match will work better.

I own physical card game. I didn't understand some rules until this game came out. Now I know how to play. I really love it ! I cannot recommend it enough !

Somehow, the ability to implement local pass and play, which is trivial for nearly every board and card game adaptation, is completely beyond the skill set of this development team. Sad.

Overall, it's a good coffee break game, that is probably better suited for mobile (it has a mobile version too) but still fun to play between games. This is basically a glorified version of Hearts. Dont get it unless its for sale.

Playing the physical card game with friends and added this to my wish-list. Purchased when it was on sale, and so delighted how clean and fluid playing against AI or doing the challenges are. I am going to be biased and say the physical card game is better as you can read your opponents body language and thus make rather more lasting memories. However this is a really sweet game to cuddle up to and enjoy. The game play is excellent, the game mechanics are simple to understand and fun, the graphics and polish of the game is great. I can't comment on the multiplayer but I think it'll be fine with steam friends.
