For a game by a new dev, this is great!
So, I ran into Jesse Leyk on twitter. He was making a yo mama joke(yes, there are screenshots), and when I found out he was a game developer, I thought to myself "this is exactly the sort of childish nonsense I'm into". I therefore immediately went and bought his game. Needless to say I was disappointed. In my 5 or so minutes playing this game not one yo mama joke was made. Instead it appears to be a rather basic bible quiz (the type that one might have hosted for free on a website) coded in, of all things, unity. Also the zebra rabbit will haunt my dreams. Thanks Obama. On to the serious part of the review: Being an engineer, I must give credit to Jesse. For an amateur to complete even a project as small as this takes a lot of dedication and time. Whatever personal differences I may have with Jesse, I commend him for that much. Avast detects the executable as a virus. I suspect this is a false positive, but it really is hard to say. Virustotal thinks it's legit, so if you are genuinely interested in this game, you may have to create an exception - do so at your own risk, but it's probably fine. The software is broken on ultra-wide screens. It forces the aspect ration which in turn leads to the bottom part of the screen being cut off. The settings menu was broken in my copy as well - all text was missing. I was, however, able to set the background to a vibrant pink by randomly moving sliders, so 8/10 for that. The questions appear to be a curious mix of Sunday school questions and "What does this Hebrew word mean?" This puts it in an odd place, unless Sunday school is teaching Hebrew these days? Maybe in Jesse's church. I can't see a serious adult using this software, and neither can I see this as completely appropriate for kids. The title is also misleading. This is not a study, it is just a quiz, but a quick look at the screenshots will show this to be the case, so I doubt anyone will go into this and be disappointed. I'm debating refunding or simply deleting this. Despite his obvious animosity towards me, I bear Jesse no ill will, and am happy for him to keep the some R12.60, but on the other hand, the product objectively does not work on my system. Graphics: 2/10 Haunted Zebra Rabbits Gameplay : 1/10 Online Quiz. Background Colours: Vibrant Pink/10 Storyline: None. Verdict: I bought it, so you don't have to. Yomama jokes: 0/10, do better next time, dev.
