The Detail, a crime noir adventure in a modern American city. This is a city where cases matter, clearance rates matter, and on a good day even justice matters.

Don't bother, it starts interesting and suddenly mess up at last chapter.
This game is rough around the edges, sure. Quite a few visual bugs, gameplay is not exactly smooth, and the story feels inconsistent - it's a drag first two chapters and it's rushed in the last one. Sometimes there are no music where it's supposed to be, UI hints come and go as they please. Long story short, it's not a perfect game, and neither was Rival Games Ltd's next one, Thief of Thieves. So why do I recommend it? I think this game's got soul. It perfectly scratches the itch of a neo-noir detective story, even if it's full of cliche. You can see the people behind the curtains cared about what they were doing. Despite all its flaws, it drags you in until the very end, and there are quite a few choices branching out along the way. Granted, this game could use more quality assurance that will never come. But it doesn't deserve to be forgotten.

A compelling crime noir adventure with a distinctive graphic novel aesthetic. Set in a modern American city plagued by crime, the game allows players to navigate the lives of a seasoned detective and a reformed criminal, making choices that significantly influence the unfolding story. The game's strengths lie in its engaging storyline, atmospheric graphics, and immersive soundscape, all of which contribute to a rich and captivating experience. The branching narrative ensures that decisions carry weight, offering a sense of agency and replayability. However, it's unfortunate that the developer, Rival Games Ltd, faced financial difficulties, leading to its closure. This has left me wondering about the potential stories and innovations that could have emerged from such a talented team. Strongly recommended.
Great art style. About 1.5 hours of gameplay if you take your time. Unfortunately just the base game gets you nowhere. Seeing the few reviews on the follow-up episodes I think I'll pass. I never hid a game in my library so far, but will do so with this one. IMHO the episodes should have been combined into a single game when the third one was released. Feels like a money-grab to me. For about 2€, with 4.5 hours of playime overall it would be worth it (assuming the other episodes are similar in length) BUT NOT THIS WAY.
EDIT: For the record, I was basically done with the game when I wrote this, I just didn't know it at the time. When I came back to record the last episode, there was only 5 or so min left, basically the equivalent of an epilogue///////////// As far as what's uploaded I'm only on part 6 of my playthrough of, The Detail. But I just recorded part 10, and holy crap... It gets intense, I did not see that coming. I don't suspect there will be many more videos. I don't know, it's my first time playing through it. But I imagine it's got to be nearing the end. The game started off really good, but not going to lie, it starts to lull through much of it, but I think it was to kind of dump all this on you and shock the senses. I had a high opinion of the game. Then I started to think it was getting a little boring, but I was committed to seeing it through. And now it has me again. It's an over looked little gem from 2016. $3 dollars per episode, for three episodes at full retail price. But it goes on sale from time to time. Truly worth checking out. It's like a comic book style visual novel with adventure game elements. But really it's about the characters and the story. if you are curious, you can find my videos on BitChute, Rumble, and Odysee. https://youtu.be/Z1g-o76p7TI Offering an inconsistent art style along side a cast of generally, and intentionally, unlikeable characters makes it hard for characters to be draw into the setting.
