«The Departure»
Looks promising....
Game will crash on you when you are very to close to the tedious archivement. Then you will realise that this game doesn't use cloud service or auto save so all your progress is gone. EDIT: Game autosaves now got fixed by the dev. Crash also got fixed. Nice game to quickly hunt some archievements not everyone has.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/536474976 Apesar de interessante, é bem bugado e pouco desafiador, cansa rápido.
The game has a user interface that tells you in three different places to press 'I' (is that an uppercase i or a lowercase L?) to hide the three information boxes at the top of the screen, but doesn't tell you anywhere to press 'f' to [strike]pay respects[/strike] gather resources or press 'b' to create new buildings. I don't even know what other actions I might be missing because I didn't feel like pressing every key on the keyboard to see what it might do. Quickly devolves into Tree-Cutting Simulator once you see how the game works. Build an Improved Camp or two and you can increase your population (which only increases gold production and the need for food, and has no other discernible impact) a few notches without having to forage for food. Build a couple of Mines in addition and the only resource you haven't automated is wood, of which you'll need a lot. There are no limits to the number of production buildings you can create regardless of your population, so build a bunch of camps for 20 wood / 10 ore so you can quickly increase pop size. There are no obstacles, as far as I could tell, besides time and a little bad luck from the RNG. Which is good, because the game boils down to "hold A to move left, hold D to move right, occasionally press 'f' to gather, 'b' to build, and maybe click to upgrade a building" to the point that if there had been obstacles, I probably would have quit on the spot. The game feels extremely grindy. I like simulation and colony games, but this game committed the cardinal sin of being boring, or, worded in a more negative light, not being fun. It's inoffensive, and it's super cheap, but sadly I think there are better ways to spend your time and a dollar--there are free flash games that will provide more enjoyment. None of this is meant as a slight to the developers; if this is their first game, I'd commend them that there are no bugs, and the execution is generally smooth absent the fact that you have to use lots of trial and error to find out how basic game functions operate. If they spent some time building a bigger game, it could prove worth the money. But this game is not.
Guess what's taken The Departure...
The Departure is one of the several colonist-style games FailoutGames, but unlike Land of Dread and Roanoke, this one follows a separate format by using a sidescroller format instead of the top-down style (apparently this game came first). Needless to say, however, I did not enjoy this game. The goal of The Departure is to get more citizens into your town to give you more gold, which will give you points. Settlers X Gold = Score. All the while, you'll be gathering food, wood, and stone to build up your basic and generic town. You can build resource producing assets which can help you out, but you're mostly better off doing it yourself from the start. It only helps later on. I spent essentially 90 minutes struggling to get the resources needed to complete all the achievements and it was a boring experience. While upgrading my town, I felt like I was accomplishing nothing. The graphics felt lackluster, the experience felt basic and boring, ...and I still have no idea why a jumping function is in this game if it serves no purpose. This game is pulled from Steam so there's no way to redeem it, but if you have it, I would not really recommend playing it if you're looking for a fun experience. Decent for achievements, but I don't see myself returning to this game anytime soon. 1/10 I have taken The Departure from this game.
I received this game via Keymailer, which inherently means I can make what ever sort of content I like about the game, be it a review, game play, live streaming. I thought I would record a first impressions review for my youtube channel and I'm sort of lost for words right now. I am very confused about this game. It has features like "jump" controls but no reason for jumping that I can seem to find. Likewise, there's the option to 'hit' thing, but nothing that I seem able to hit. The game itself seems pretty straight forward on what I'm supposed to be doing, but after less than 30 minutes of game play I seem to have maxed out the content that I have access to. I'm not sure if there is a glitch in the game making it so that I can't see other features, if I was given some sort of testing key, or if the game is awaiting updates that would provide more content. If for some reason I am missing valuable information on where the rest of the features are, or why this game is missing so much content despite it not being early access, I'd be very keen to hear about it. As it stands, the only content I seem able to interact with is a single building to upgrade, which I accomplished very quickly. And now I have nothing left to do. I hate to say it because I try to be fair about game reviews, and I understand that everyone views games differently according to their particular tastes, but I can't even justify recommending this game as worthwhile, even at 99cents.
Probably the most boring and awful resource management/building games I have ever played.
