As you can probably tell from its presentation, the game focuses on yuri romance with plenty of comedic moments. Despite its short runtime (~3 hours), The Demon Queen's Dire Dilemma is a genuinely enjoyable read. It’s a quick dose of heartwarming yuri that never overstays its welcome - the perfect kind of game to pick up when you want to relax and unwind. [b]Thumbs up from me.[/b] Definitely give it a try if it sounds like your kind of game. [b]Story[/b] It’s a very lighthearted story about a demoness who conquers an entire kingdom just because she wants a certain princess to return her feelings. The plot isn’t particularly deep, but it never tries to be. The whole game revolves around the demoness Asmodeus doing everything she can to make her maid - a former princess - fall for her, while being completely oblivious to the fact that the maid already likes her back. It’s a simple but charming comedy filled with fluffy, heartwarming moments, so don’t expect heavy drama or complicated plot twists. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. [b]Visuals[/b] I really like the game’s art style, especially the character designs. The visuals may not be particularly detailed, but they perfectly match the cute and lighthearted tone of the story. Just look at the pouting demoness, and you’ll immediately see what I mean. [b]Audio[/b] The soundtrack isn’t anything particularly memorable, but it fits the scenes well and does its job. From time to time, you can also hear ambient sound effects like a crackling fireplace or blowing wind, which help make the world feel a bit more immersive. Sadly, the game doesn’t feature any voice acting. [b]Technicalities[/b] The game runs flawlessly, and I didn’t encounter any issues or bugs during my playthrough.

Dire Dilemma is a Kinetic (linear, no interactivity) Visual Novel by ebi-hime, the talented creatives renowned for cutesy romances, creepy romances, and all romances in-between. This story focuses on Lady Asmodeus, who is following the footsteps of her mother and grandmother to prove her worth by conquering a human kingdom and claiming it as her own, taking its beloved princess Lisette as her personal maid in the process. Unfortunately, hesitant as she is to admit it even to herself, she's not actually good at being terrifying; she's the weakest demon in her family, she hates the sight of blood, she's actually better at managing resources than the previous king, and Lisette actually prefers the freedom that comes with being a maid over the restrictive, boorish life she had as a princess. After seeking advice from her two closest demon friends, Asmodeus decides to spend more time with Lisette to learn her weaknesses and use them to gain the terrifying reputation she believes she deserves...except, is that really what she wanted, even from the start? (It is not, she wants love, this is clearly a romance story.) The story is three chapters long, but they're quite lengthy chapters, focusing on Asmodeus and Lisette's character arcs as much as their romance. The ending did feel a tad abrupt, and there's clearly some set-up for a sequel involving Asmodeus's family, but if it doesn't happen, I'll still be satisfied with what occurred. There's only two prominent characters besides them, plus a notable cameo from another ebi-hime story, but they're all written well and have fun interactions with each other. The artwork is lovely, and there's plenty of it too, such as all of Asmodeus's outfits and the scene of Lisette teaching her how to dance. The background music was also exactly as sweet, goofy, or relaxing as it needed to be in every scene. In the end, I've Decided that this Dire Dilemma is Definitely...enDearing, and worth recommending.

A very cute and a very charming experience. I enjoy seeing romances where one half is such a dork, while the other is all for it, and even plays along. The art is fantastic as well. The characters are so adorably designed while the CGs have this softness in how their drawn. I especially love how some CGs have this nice pastel palette to them that accentuates how sugary Asmodeus and Lisette are. While some of the sound effects are a bit loud, the quieter sounds are almost drowned out when turning the SFX down as well, it is such a little gripe that it doesn't take away from the game's value. More than worth the few bucks, in my oh so great opinion. For there is nothing better than a sapphic and ditzy ojou-sama.
