The Death of Erin Myers

It´s a nice little game wich I liked a lot. It´s really easy to solve and has in my point of view a short but good story.

I found this game to be extremely underwhelming in every way. Everything just feels pointless. You pick up a bunch of random objects that seem out of place, then you try to figure out how they work together and with the environment while completing mundane tasks. Rinse and repeat throughout the entire game. You don't even realize why you're doing what you're doing half the time, but you do it anyway. On top of that, a lot of the dialogue is awkward and useless and the game is just really uninteresting overall. I reached the end credits and felt nothing. Even though it's very short, I don't think it's worth anybody's time. You'll get nothing from this game. It was a completely forgettable experience.

Ugh. Sorry. Do not recommend. Short, uninteresting, overly simplistic puzzles. I know it was only $2 but I think I would have rather kept the $2 and my 90 minutes.

Intense short-story with nice puzzles. Who is into puzzling and fiddling into an interesting case which story leaves you with some goosebumps after completing it will have 1-2 hours of fun with this. I really enjoyed playing the game :)

This game is short but powerful. I feel weird saying I enjoyed it with the heavy subject matter, but it was very well-done. It is really short but I kind of like that you can play it in a sitting and have this narrative wrapped up. I hope to see more of these short point and click games soon!

The Death of Erin Myers is a nice little point & click game you can finish in under 2 hours. It's following Erin Myers as she experiences different situations in her life. The puzzles aren't too difficult, and you are never required to venture far to complete them. I went in blind and finished the game in 1h 45m. I was missing some voice acting but even without, it's a nice little game, perfect for when you feel like something quick and satisfying. This is a short little game with pretty easy progression for a point and click. (I only had to look up a walk through once.) It also tells a decent story, and one that I can personally relate to. It is best to go into this game blind, and experience it as it happens. I will however warn against anyone who is sensitive to childhood abuse as topic before playing, as it has a large role in the story. I recommend the game otherwise, especially if you are not very familiar with what abuse can do to a victim. This is not a subtle as a lot of cases of abuse are, but I applaud the game for exploring what it can do to a survivor. Spoilers ahead: The trouble that the MC has in this game is related to childhood trauma and an inability to recover. Instead of working through the toxic behaviors that were put up to survive her childhood, they compounded it and hid behind their job as a means to cope. This is a story about how poorly trauma can be handled and what it can do to a person if they feel they have the means to act upon it. I mentioned in the opening that I have personal experience with abuse, though not quite to the degree that the MC here did. Even still, it left a mark on me, and it has taken me over a decade to work through and unlearn the behaviors I had to survive my abuse. To this day, I still have certain triggers that are still a problem, and are like mental barriers. But the first step to recovery is to recognize that those triggers exist for a reason, and that they may be irrational in situations that do not involve a parent. Childhood abuse is difficult to work through, as there isn't a self before it to look back to as a goal. And on that front, I feel like this game does address that quite well. If a person is not able to grow, to be better than their abuser and doubles down on their toxicity it makes recovery very hard. The MC sees these possibilities for the future, but only in a dream, and once it is too late. I would love to see more from this developer in the future.

Not a challenging game, but a very good short narrative to play through, in terms of atmosphere it reminded me of some great point-and-click Flash games I used to play back in the day. Definitely worth your time, but be aware that the story is pretty depressing.
