"The Council of Hanwell" ist ein First-Person Horror Spiel. "The Council of Hanwell" ist lediglich eine konzentrierte Version seines Vorgängers.
Insgesamt verbringt man so ungefähr 10h in Hanwell. ----- Weitere Reviews findet Ihr hier: GermanReviews
Eh, it's not bad. I've played far worse indie horrors so it's a tentative thumbs up from me. It's short (lasts about 2 and a half hours), cheap (and is on sale occasionally), relatively bug-free, and has the occasional good couple of scares. There are some things are a big half baked, like the radio you could turn on to listen for static. I have no idea what that was supposed to be used for but I didn't notice a difference whether I had it on or not. And then there's the combat which is basically just wailing away with a wrench or crowbar until the spooky things go away, and it almost seems to be there a handful of times just to provide some practice for the yawn-fest which is the end-boss fight. Why they couldn't have gone for a chase sequence or something else to ramp up the tension is beyond me because that fight is pretty terrible. The story is also pretty nonsence and hard to follow, and your motives are bizarre. Something about an ID card split in 6 that you have to retrieve, and there's an evil doctor and conniving major, and a major outbreak of 'anomalies'. It just doesn't hold up to scrutiny. It's really just an excuse to throw you into a handful of cliche spooky locales - the school, the power plant, the hospital, the jail, research facility etc. And in fairness to the game it uses those locations well. At times it becomes a bit repetitive (the constant collection of passcodes in the research facility seemed over-long and boring), but the atmosphere and sound are done well and there was definitely a few times where, even though I didn't necessarily jump out of my seat, I at least got the thrills I was after. Overall a solid 6/10.
For it being a $5 game, it wasn't at all bad. It had a dedicated story line and was really easy to follow with an easy concept. Played a little over three hours on the game and enjoyed the jump scares and music. Some parts louder than others and vice versa, some parts were quiet than others. You couldn't turn motion blur off and the mouse sensitivity could not be changed either. Only graphic settings could be changed which is unfortunate since I had to manually change the sound, mouse sensitivity all on my own with software settings.
Solid horror game for the price. Worth a playthrough.
This is the same game with Welcome to Hanwell with the difference of this not being open world. The game plays the levels in order whereas in the other game you would play them in the order you wanted. I guess the streets which you go through to get to the other levels is removed too. I think this is a good thing because I remember getting stuck in that game not knowing where to go or what to do. I get scared easily. Because of this I don't play these types of games often. There are some jumpscares. I think they aren't too often to the point they lose their effect. I remember getting many goosebumps while playing. In some levels you get a weapon, some you don't. The gameplay is finding keys or codes and using them to open doors and safes. Sometimes you fight things too. You have a flashlight. Another good thing is that you don't need batteries but if you use it all the time, it will go off and you need to wait for a bit to recharge. First main objective is to collect pieces of an ID card to enter the Council. This goes on for several levels until you enter the Council. I didn't understand the story all that much but frankly I don't really care. Sounds like the classic horror story. Crazy doctor's experiments gone wrong. It is told through notes and answering machines you find. The sound design and music are very nice. They amplify the horrific atmosphere. Graphically, in my opinion it looks very good. Not that there are many intricately designed assets in the game but anyway. I played with mouse and keyboard. I didn't like the movement in the game. Your character runs too slow. I guess at least there is no stamina system. The combat is very bad. With every swing your view swings too making you dizzy. Fortunately there isn't much of it in the game. Also, if you press Z, you can play in third person mode. There are also two types of collectibles. Witch Eyes and Doctor DNAs. Gettting all the eyes gives you a nice perk for the survival mode which is waves of enemies coming at you in a few different maps. There is the Escape mode which is basically Slender Eight Pages but you collect 10 Doctor DNAs instead and a bloody brute hunting you down instead. The Prototype mode is alpha version of Welcome to Hanwell. I looked at these briefly after finishing the game. I'm not sure what collecting the DNAs get you. I was 3 short at the end of the game and I didn't want to replay it for them. This game is ok if you wanna be scared for a few hours.
Ein recht gutes Horror Erlebnis. Man bekommt viele Schock Momente.
The flashlight dying and taking ages and ages to recharge is annoying. It's a bit buggy but I paid 79 cents for it and got 3 hours out of it.
