The Construct Most of the game reminds such old games on consoles, where you had to pass different levels, flying on a plane. Here in fact everything is very similar, but with innovations. On the gameplay, something like a scrolling shooter, but then you have more freedom of action, so this is not a scrolling shooter. Very pleased with the colorful levels and even intertwined with puzzles. The complexity of the game is relative, playing the gamepad will certainly be easier than on the keyboard. In terms of the complexity of the levels, there are also complex levels that are passed far from the first time. For me it is an attempt to take the old game and present it in a new light. It turned out pretty good. I would also like to note the musical accompaniment, which is also very pleased. Not a bad game for its price. Especially if you are a fan of such a "retro" genre, you can safely buy.
Received this product from a friend as a surprise gift. I wish I could recommend this game but as with other reviewers I will agree that the controls aren't very good. The setting, scenario, and mood were all great for what I played of it (not much), but I couldn't keep going because the controls are unresponsive to turning and you'll randomly keep floating in a direction by minute amounts after you should have stopped. In tight spaces that means you die, and that's annoying when you have to redo a bunch of other timing segments from the last checkpoint. This isn't dark souls difficulty, where mistakes are your fault and can be correct. This is "core design has flaws" difficulty, and it's just not fun.

Dont buy that. Trash...

The Construct looks a lot like a really lame 2D retro top down shooter, but I was surprised to find there's a little more depth than that, as the game features a bit of level searching, path negotiation, and even some lightweight adventure game elements. Although that's a bit weird because you're in a spaceship, but running over envelopes to open them and collecting keycards and opening doors. Spaceships are people too, I guess. The game has you controlling (awkwardly) your Asteroids/SpaceWar! style Newtonian spaceship through various mazelike levels, in fact it takes a little while in the game before you're blasting enemies. Adding a little more depth to games is always welcome. One important note is that even though this is an amateur project, it does seem to be sincerely and genuinely made. I couldn't find any flipped assets, plagiarism or any other kind of insincere actions from the developer, but unfortunately ethical behaviour and genuine intentions alone are not enough to produce a brilliant gaming experience. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features simple, fairly basic 2D visuals, and while some effort went into them, and they don't look bad exactly, they don't look great, either. In the 3D era of gaming, that kicked off in the mid 1990's with dedicated 3D GPUs like the S3 Virge and ATI Rage, phoning in the graphics like this isn't going to win any awards or appeal to enthusiast PC gamers. The controls and game handling are notably very floaty and imprecise. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing or polish done. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. The Construct has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for killing the first boss, trivial to achieve, but less than 1 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 1 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother to played the game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. The Construct has the greedy, cash grab price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.

The controls on this game are so bad its almost unbearable to play. I play tons of games but this is just terrible. I went to the forums for this game and it only has 3 posts and 3 1 comment from ME ! THIS GAME IS DEAD ! It's like I'm its only player ! I'm sorry but this game is agonizing to play ! The controls keep switching randomly ! left is right right is left down is up and up is down and sometimes down left right up up left right right left left up down right all at the same time. I'm probably the only person leaving a review in years . I'm trying man I'm really trying no just play through it but its so bad i quit out of the game every two minutes and no game has ever done that to me ever . This is literally a first for me. I'm trying to just say " hey its kind of a bad game but let me just finish it " .......... its not even fun ..... this may actually be the absolute worst game I've ever played in my entire gaming career . I hate to leave a review like this because people do work hard on games but dude........ this game takes the cake .... I've never played something that made me want to just stop playing it instantly . Its not even the challenge its just that the controls suck and its extremely boring .
