The Confinement is not merely a platformer, it is a manifesto on the purity of movement and the occupation of space. While the contemporary industry loses itself in narrative excesses and visual distractions, this work treads the opposite path, finding its prestige in subtraction. Unlike open-world epics that seek an "organic void" to simulate life, The Confinement embraces the Mathematical Void. There is a spatial intentionality here that echoes the most auteur-driven works of figures like Hideo Kojima: the environment is not a backdrop, but a silent antagonist. Through Neon Brutalism, the design communicates human insignificance in the face of cold AmokAI logic. It is the transition from the world as it is to the world as geometry dictates it. There is an invisible line connecting the systems design of the great masters to the gameplay of this title: the refusal of sloppy improvisation. If in major prestige productions the journey is the destination, here the millisecond is the ultimate goal. The game behaves like a marble sculpture. The player does not mold the experience to their pleasure, they must remove everything that is unnecessary, every hesitation, every erratic movement, until only the perfect execution remains. It is the prestige of discipline over total freedom, evoking the same satisfaction of mastery found in the most technical combat of FromSoftware. Grandeur here is not measured by the length of hours, but by the intensity of frames. While life simulators dilate time to tell an era, The Confinement compresses it to test existence. It is the difference between the epic novel and the haiku: a sharp, precise, and deep strike that demands the player transform their own internal chaos into rhythm. Verdict: The Confinement positions itself as a piece of mechanical resistance. It is a work that does not hold the user's hand, treating gameplay as a purist art form. It is the game as a rite of passage, where the true trophy is not the end of the level, but the evolution of the player who, by the end of the experience, is no longer the same person who began it. An essential experience for those seeking the state of "flow" in its most brutal and honest form. 7.5/10
The Confinement is a really tight and challenging first-person platformer. Movement feels sharp, and the game doesn’t hold your hand at all, every mistake is on you, but that’s what makes it satisfying when you finally nail a run. The level design is solid and clearly built for replayability, especially if you enjoy improving your times. It can be a bit unforgiving and the controls are very sensitive, so it’s not for everyone. But if you like skill-based games where you actually have to improve to progress, this one’s definitely worth it.
The game is a bit rough around the edges, but well worth the price. Highly recommended if you love fast-paced parkour and routing the fastest ways to beat a level.
Really cool game. It makes you want to beat every record down to the tiniest millisecond.
Had a great time with this game, I was especially impressed with the variety I saw in the levels I played. FULL VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNl1BmcV__Q
